Global Leadership and Administration Certificate

The courses for the Global Leadership and Administration Certificate are offered by Fairleigh Dickinson's New College of General and Continuing Studies. This 12-credit graduate certificate is especially designed for leaders and administrators of worldwide organizations.
The certificate can be earned by selecting any four of the following 3-credit courses for a total of 12 credits. All credits earned can be applied toward FDU's 30-credit Master of Administrative Science (MAS) program.
NOTE: This certificate can be taken on a matriculating or non-matriculating basis; it also can be taken as a post-graduate certificate for students who have earned a graduate degree. A minimum of 10 students is needed for each course; for greatest interaction and dialogue, the maximum number of students per online section is 25.

Theory and Practice of Administration
This course introduces students to the issues involved in the administration of public and not-for-profit organizations. Cases are used to analyze the relation of theory to practice, and to illustrate the direct practical relevance of theoretical models to administrative action.

Productivity and Human Performance
This course examines the definitions and measurement of individual, team and organizational productivity, effectiveness and efficiency. Models for the analysis of organizational and individual productivity and productivity growth are reviewed, as well as techniques for improving productivity.

Managing Organizational Change
This course provides an overview of the principles of organizational change in order to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities to design and/or oversee basic change efforts. Students will learn to understand the change process and the tools to conduct basic change efforts. The ability to change is essential for healthy individual and organizational growth and development; but change is often resisted for a variety of reasons.

Community Threat Assessment and Risk Analysis
An analytic course that is designed for public safety officers, elected officials and business community leaders for developing collaborative approaches to counter - terrorism and other security threats. Topics include vulnerability assessments, hazard mitigation, best practices, emergency planning, physical security surveys, networking of experts and community policing. Students will conduct a vulnerability assessment survey within their organization and community and present a comprehensive response plan.

Organizational Decision-Making
This course involves an examination of processes in organizational decision-making; the state of theory; research and applications for the practicing manager. Topics include managerial style and decision-making, problem discovery and diagnosis, the search for solutions, evaluation and choice, group decision-making, decision aids and support systems and risk analysis.
