Presidential Citation

Vincent J. Varrassi

Metropolitan Campus Director
Regional Center for College Students with Learning Disabilities

Joining the University in 1998 as an adjunct instructor in the Peter Sammartino School of Education, you quickly developed a special rapport with your students and found your niche in the Regional Center for College Students with Learning Disabilities. You assumed the center’s leadership role at the College at Florham in 1999 and moved to director of the Metropolitan Campus’ center in 2001.

Your commitment to students is reflected in your unbridled confidence in their abilities to succeed. You draw upon your expertise to provide each student with strategies for a successful college experience. And, you work collaboratively, creating a team for success among your FDU colleagues for each of your students.

You have become a strong advocate for college students with learning disabilities at FDU, within the state of New Jersey and increasingly on the national scene. You have authored articles and given presentations to a wide landscape of audiences in support of access to education for the learning disabled.

On May 23, 2005, you received a Special Service Award during the annual conference of the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling (NJACAC) for being “an incredible bridge between admissions and high schools for students with learning disabilities.” We agree wholeheartedly with and enthusiastically endorse that assessment.

We recognize the teams you have created, bringing high school counselors, admissions personnel and faculty together to enrich the lives of students. For your dedication and perseverance, I gratefully present you this Presidential Citation.

By and on behalf of the University Community,
