In September, 2000, Fairleigh Dickinson University celebrated the formal inauguration of J. Michael Adams as the University's sixth president. Academic Convocation took place September 26th on the Florham-Madison Campus. Investiture was on the Teaneck-Hackensack Campus on September 27. New Jersey Governor Whitman, among others, addressed the gathering. A reception for the University community followed the Investiture ceremony.
 

The occasion marked the debut of the University's new visual identity.
Some international students attended the investiture in native dress of their homelands.

FDU's New Jersey campuses are host to over 600 international students from over 60 countries.
The inaugural procession included flags of countries represented among FDU students.
