Open Houses Huge Success

More than 2,000 prospective undergraduate students and their families attended the fall open houses held on both New Jersey campuses on October 21 and November 11.

Two hundred and eighteen students visited the Teaneck-Hackensack Campus and 148 completed applications; 464 students visited the Florham-Madison Campus and 270 completed applications.
“Six hundred and eighty-two students visiting and 418 applications submitted in two days is something we all should be proud of,” said Gary Hamme, vice president for enrollment and career management.
This is the second year admissions open houses were held in all-day sessions on the weekend. “To the current admissions staff’s knowledge, this level of participation is unprecedented,” said Colleen O’Connor, University dean of admissions.

Each day’s kick-off began with welcoming remarks led by FDU student masters of ceremonies. Noon sessions featured faculty forums, in which faculty and current students met with prospective students, presented academic programs and responded to individual questions.

Following those sessions, students were able to explore QUEST, the accelerated teachers preparation program; global learning opportunities; financial-aid tips and scholarship options; and career management and college funding. Drop-in sessions included fast facts about applying to FDU, academic support. student life and guided campus tours.

Both Hamme and O’Connor thanked the deans, department chairs and faculty for their contributions.
