FDU · news and publications · calendar of events · help UN Ambassadors to Discuss Spain, IndiaThe importance of Spain and India in the world and in the United Nations will be explored by two seasoned diplomats in special lectures on the campuses. Ambassador Inocencio Arias, permanent representative of Spain to the United Nations, will discuss “Spain in Europe and in the United Nations” on Monday, March 25, at 6 p.m. in Lenfell Hall, The Mansion, Florham-Madison Campus. Ambassador Arias, a 30-year veteran of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been posted in Bolivia, Algeria and Portugal. He has participated in the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1991); the NATO Summit in Madrid, Spain (1997); and Latin American Summits in Mexico, Spain and Chile. In the private sector, Arias has been general manager of the world-famous soccer club Real Madrid. He has served as a professor of international relations at University Complutense (Madrid) and at University Carlos III (Madrid), where he still teaches. On Wednesday, April 3, the rescheduled presentation of Ambassador Kamalesh Sharma, the permanent representative of India to the United Nations, will be held at 6 p.m. in the Rutherford Room, Student Union Building, Teaneck-Hackensack Campus. His topic will be “India in the World.” Sharma joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1965 and has held positions in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Both presentations are free and open to the public. They are part of the United Nations Pathway Lecture Series presented by The Ambassador’s Club at the United Nations in conjunction with the University. |
