Programs are offered on campus, on site and online. The school has on-site partnerships with Atlantic Health Systems, Hackensack University Medical Center and Holy Name Hospital. “We have over 150 on-site students,” says Minerva Guttman, the school's director. “Once nurses are finished with their work, they may be too tired to make a separate trip to school. But if they are just going to the next room, it’s much easier. Plus, we offer a generous tuition discount for onsite programs.

“Our master’s program in nursing education is available entirely online,” she says. This program prepares nurses as teachers for collegiate associate and bachelor’s degree programs in nursing. Participants acquire knowledge and skills in teaching that enable them to work effectively with students, parents, patients and consumers, as well as completing a student teaching practicum that exposes them to all aspects of faculty academic and clinical teaching roles. .

“We have people studying from West Virginia, Delaware, and we’ve even had inquiries from California,” says Guttman. “Imagine the impact if people in Nigeria take our programs!” For more information on advanced nursing degrees and other opportunities at FDU go to www.fdu.edu/nursing.
