Chief Academic Officer

December 12, 2003

I am delighted to inform you that, at its December 10th meeting, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved creation of the position of a chief academic officer at Fairleigh Dickinson University. As many of you know, this has been an important goal for me since the day I arrived as President.

I believe that the appointment of a chief academic officer, and the restructuring within the administration that the position will entail, will enable our University to attain the next level of excellence.

I'd like to thank all of you who have helped in this process. I would also like to thank our Board of Trustees, and especially Dr. June Schlueter, for their recognition of the critical importance of this position.

The search process will follow the Faculty Handbook guidelines and will begin in the spring semester. Our goal is to have a chief academic officer in place by September.
