Internationalization

September 7, 2004

After one year of an extensive self-study on internationalization efforts at FDU, we have posted the findings of two final reports and three surveys. All are available on the Web at: http://globaleducation.edu/ge/labteam.html

The first report was conducted by FDU’s Internationalization Laboratory Team in collaboration with the American Council on Education (ACE) Office of International Initiatives. The team, which consisted of 19 FDU faculty and administrators, examined the strengths and weaknesses of various internationalization efforts at the University and offered a list of recommendations. The second report by a three-member external review team, headed by ACE senior consultant Fred Hayward, is based on the FDU self-study and a site visit in May 2004. Suggestions to help facilitate internationalization are italicized in this report. The results of three surveys of FDU students, faculty and administration are also available.

As the reports conclude, FDU has made “significant progress” and taken “remarkable strides” toward fulfilling its global mission, yet many challenges remain and important concerns need to be addressed. We hope you will take the time to read through these important materials and to participate in the ongoing development of internationalization efforts at FDU.

Special appreciation is expressed to the team members who so consistently and skillfully worked through this vital assignment. They are:
