Weather Closing Notification
Especially during winter storms, weather safety may require closing of FDU campuses for a day or portion of a day. The best way to stay abreast of the latest news is to call FDU’s voice mail, which will provide a message regarding the University’s status (open, delayed opening, closed, etc.). The switchboard also will have up-to-date information on related matters. A third way to get information is to log onto the University Web site (www.fdu.edu) where a banner will indicate any delayed opening or closing information.
Faculty are encouraged to put messages on their voice mail. They should inform students in their classes to call these extensions for the most up-to-date weather-related information regarding class-meeting status.
News 12 New Jersey (check your local cable carrier for the correct channel)
will include news from FDU on its “weather banner” at the bottom of the
television screen. The following radio stations also will be a part of
FDU’s weather advisory system:
WOR radio has a school closing service, but it will not broadcast the information over the air. School closing information sent to WOR will be published approximately every 10 minutes on its Web site at http://www.worschoolclosings.info/ starting at 5 a.m. Cancellations will be sorted by county, city/town and school name. This same information will be updated frequently on the WOR telephone hotline at (877) 871-9208. There is a main menu with New Jersey as one of the choices.
Every effort will be made to have closing information available before
