Mini-computing

University Systems and Security 

The Department of University Systems and Security has mini computers available to students across both campuses: a DEC Alpha running OSF/1 (Digital Unix) and a DEC VAX4000 running VMS.  These minis are accessible from every computer center at FDU, the libraries, the learning centers, as well as through dial-up numbers. 

Micro-computing

Computing Services, on both New Jersey campuses, offers access to IBM compatible computers. Each computer is connected to Novell Netware 4.11 servers which provide DOS and MS-Windows based programs. 

Dickinson Hall  
 

    Dickinson Hall has three laboratories. Each lab has Dell Optiplex GX1 Pentium II 350 MHz systems with 64 megabytes ram. 

    Lab C is designated to student use (no classes will be using Lab C). Pay-per-copy laser printer printouts are available in Lab C. 

University Hall 
    There are four laboratories (Room 22 front Lab, Room 22 back Lab, Room 27 & Room 28) in University hall 2nd Floor.  Each lab has Dell Pentium II 350 MHz systems with 64 megabytes of ram. 

    Room 27, the Multimedia Lab, has three printers (HP DeskJet 1600CM, Epson stylus, and Apple Laser Writer), and two scanners (UMAX ASTRA 1200S and Polaroid Sprint Scan 35/LE). 

    Room 28 has Dell Pentium II 350 Mhz systems with 64 MB of ram and 1 pay-per-copy ($.10/page) laser printer.  Room 28 is designated for student use (no classes scheduled).

Dreyfuss Building 
 
    There are four laboratories (Rooms D207, 208, 209 & D210-211) in Dreyfuss Building.   Each lab has Dell Pentium II 350 MHz systems with 64 megabytes of ram.  Laser printing is available. 

    Room D210-211, the Graphic lab, has three printers (Tektronix, HP Deskjet, and Apple Laser Writer), and one UMAX ASTRA Scanner. 


Policies

Users of the computing facilities are required to abide by FDU's Acceptable Use Policy 


BBS

FDU offers Prism BBS as one of our services to Internet community. After connecting, log in as bbs (lower case) with no password.  Note: There are 20 slots open at one time 


Tricat

Tricat is our online library catalog database. You can search holdings for either campus. To try it out, telnet to library.fdu.edu 
Note: login as tricat and just press enter at the password prompt
