College at Florham Incident Updates
April 3 Incident Update (April 16, 2004 at 12:30 p.m.)
Since the April 3 incident at the College at Florham, we have been working closely with local authorities on behalf of our University community. As part of this effort, we continue to review residence life and security measures. At the College at Florham, access remains limited to two campus entrance points (Park Avenue and Danforth Road). At those points, security guards are asking visitors for identification and are recording license plate numbers. The Madison Avenue entrance will reopen as soon as we can make changes to safely control the flow of traffic.
In a related development, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office notified the University by telephone late Thursday that Metropolitan Campus (Teaneck, N.J.) student Robert Brock-Murray has been charged by the Florham Park Police and the Prosecutor’s Office with 4th degree unlawful possession of a weapon (a knife), and 3rd degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes (a knife), in connection with the disturbance. He has been released on $5,000 bail. The investigation is ongoing.
Brock-Murray was shot in the abdomen during the incident and treated and released from the hospital the following afternoon.
The University is grateful to the Florham Park Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office for their professionalism and dedication.
