Introduction
It is the policy of the Department of Public Safety that every vehicle
on campus must have some identification showing it is legitimately on campus.
Faculty, staff and students will be issued appropriate decals. Visitor,
guest, vendors and all others will be issued a parking pass.
General Policy
-
All vehicles that are operated or parked on property of Fairleigh Dickinson
University must be registered with the department of Public Safety.

Fairleigh Dickinson University, its employees and/or agents assume no responsibility
for any vehicle or the contents of any vehicle, for fire, theft, damage,
or any incident which may occur to any vehicle while parked or operated
on University property.

Regulation are in force at all times, including Saturdays, Sundays, an
Holidays whether or not classes are in session.

No fee is required to obtain a parking decal or pass.

Failure to register a vehicle does not relieve any responsibility or compliance
with these regulations

No auto repairs are permitted in University lots.

In the interest of maintaining a good relationship with the neighbors of
the University, you are advised that parking on streets or municipal property
is not permitted while you are attending class, work or any functions of
the University.
Registration of Vehicles

All vehicles, including motorcycles, scooters and motorbikes on University
property must be registered with the Department of Public Safety. Decals
are issued on a yearly basis starting September 1.

Faculty and staff members are eligible to register their vehicle through
the mail or in person at the Department of Public Safety.

Student s must register their vehicle in person at the Department of Public
Safety.

When registering a vehicle, all personas must show their state motor vehicle
registration a proof of their University status.

Employees and commuter students may register more than one vehicle. Resident
students may only receive one resident decal and vehicle registration must
be in family name. To obtain a resident decal, you must have 60 or more
credits and reside on campus.
Decal and Decal Display
-
Decal must be properly affixed to the back of the inside rear view
mirror, visible through the windshield.

Decals issued to two-wheeled vehicles must displayed on the right fork.

Decals are not transferable.

If the decal is defective and cannot be applied properly, it must be returned
to the Department of Public Safety for exchange.

Any loss of decal must be reported immediately to the Department of Public
Safety.

Decals must be removed when ownership of the vehicle has changed, association
with the University ends, or the permit expires.
Vehicle Parking and Operations
-
All student vehicles are required to park with parking stalls have white
lines. Parking in the lots of the Residence Halls is prohibited unless
a resident decal is displayed or weekend parking rules are in effect. Weekend
parking allows any vehicle with a current valid decal to park in the Residence
lot from 5:00 p.m. on Fridays to 9:00 p.m. on Sundays.

All faculty and staff vehicles are required to park with parking stalls
having green, orange or yellow lines.

No parking or operation of any vehicle is permitted at any time on lawns,
walks, athletic field, pedestrian bridge or roadways closed to vehicular
traffic.

No parking is permitted in any Fire Zone or any area designated by yellow
curing or signs posted.

Traffic signs such as One Way, No Parking, Stop, No Left Turn, etc., are
to be followed.

Vehicles are to be operated in a safe manner and must travel with caution
while on University property.

Speed limit on all campus roads, lots, etc., is a maximum of 10 miles per
hour.

Improperly or illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed, and/or towed
at the discretion of University officials.
Violations
-
Local Police do have jurisdiction t issue Summons on University property
for any violation of state law or county or town ordinance.

Campus summonses will be issued by the Department of Public Safety and
are payable to either the Department of Public Safety or Bursars Office.

Summonses must be paid with fourteen (14) days from the date of issuance.
Any appeal must be made to the Department of Public Safety within one (1)
week from the the date of issuance.

Individuals who registered a vehicle are responsible for any summonses
issued to the vehicles regardless of who was driving the vehicle.

Handicap or Fire Zone - $35.00

Careless Driving - $70.00

Stop Sign Violation - $50.00

Entering a One Way or Do Not Enter Area - $100.00

Blocking Roadway - $50.00

Failure to Follow Direction of Public Safety Officer - $100.00

Parking in Reserved or Special Permit Area - $35.00

Driving on Pathway or Walkway - $120.00

Fraudulent Use of Decal or Pass - $100.00
Towing
-
Any vehicle that is not registered with the Department of Public Safety
can be towed.
-
Any vehicle that has obtained 4 or more summonses within one semester can
be towed.
-
Any vehicle that is blocking traffic causes a safety hazard or other emergency
situation can be towed.
-
Any vehicle in the process of being towed, but not yet removed off campus
is subject to a road charge fee by the tow company.
-
All towing and storage charges must be paid directly to the tow company.
-
All tow fees are set by the tow company.
-
A release form is needed from the Department of Public Safety. The tow
company will only release the vehicle after they received the release form
and all charges have been paid.
Notes
-
Fairleigh Dickinson University reserves the right to change any of the
Rules and Regulations at any time without prior notice. It may be necessary
when special events occur on campus to restrict parking for certain periods
of time.

The Public Safety Office is open 24 hours a day for all service with the
exception of issuance of Faculty, Staff, and Resident decals. These can
be obtained 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on weekdays.

Lack of finding a parking space is not considered a valid excuse for violations.
-
The University does not guarantee anyone a parking space.
-
Individuals who use an unregistered vehicle on occasion must notify the
Department of Public Safety and obtain a special parking permit.
-
If a motor vehicle becomes disabled on campus, a disabled form must be
obtained from Public Safety.
-
Anyone with any medical problems that require special parking considerations,
must contact Student Health Services to be eligible for medical parking.
-
No one can give verbal permission to park anywhere.
