Florham Campus Adult/Part-Time New Student Checklist

  1. Submit Your Deposit
    • Once you are ready to join our FDU Go Getters, submit your $200 tuition deposit. 
    • Submit your deposit and follow the instructions to officially join FDU! 
  2. Apply for Financial Aid
    • If you have not done so already, be sure to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov and use the Florham campus code: 002607
    • At the direction of Financial Aid, accept or decline your federal loans, complete your Master Promissory Notice, and complete your financial aid entrance counseling. 
    • If you have any questions, or would like to set up an appointment, call the Office of Financial Aid at 973-443-8700, email finaid@fdu.edu, or visit the Financial Aid Office in the Mansion.

  4. Activate Your FDU NetID
    • Activate your FDU NetID to access New Student Orientation registration, FDU Email, submit your health forms, and register for housing if you are planning to live on campus. 
    • Make sure to have your FDU student ID number from your acceptance letter handy. 
    • Visit fdu.edu/netid to claim your FDU NetID, which is your FDU student email address. Select “Activate My Account” and follow the prompts. Be sure to write down your new email address. 
    • Then, visit fdu.edu/outlook for instructions on how to access your FDU student emails. 
    • Install the Duo certification app to your phone to access FDU information at fdu.edu/duo
    • Contact the University Technical Assistance Center at fdutac@fdu.edu or 973-443-8822 for assistance. 
  5. Register for New Student Orientation
    • After submitting your deposit, use your FDU NetID to register for New Student Orientation! This experience will give you the opportunity to meet your classmates, learn about the FDU and Florham Campus culture, and discover everything you need to know about being a college student!

  6. Complete Your Meal Plan Application 
    • As a commuter student there are meal options available to you. Please see the Florham Commuter Meal Plans
    • If you have questions, contact the Office of Housing and Residence Life at 973-443-8586, email fduhousing@fdu.edu, or visit the Residence Life Office, located in the Student Center. 
  7. Submit Your Health Forms
    • New Jersey state law requires all students to provide proof of immunizations to the University’s Student Health Services Office before they can register for classes or check into the residence halls. Please visit the Student Health Services pagefor the required health forms and instructions on how to submit them.

  8. Complete Your Placement Assessments
    • To prepare your class schedule, and if required by your advisor, complete Accuplacer assessments in writing, reading, and math. After you submit your deposit to FDU, you will receive detailed information about the assessments and how to schedule them. This information will be sent to your FDU student email address. It is important to complete these assessments by the designated due dates. For the most updated information on Florham campus placement assessments, visit fdu.edu/florhamtesting.

    • An important next step is accepting the Terms and Conditions, which combined with completing the placement assessment process, will allow the university to create your first semester course schedule. For more information on how to accept the Terms and Conditions, please click Sign Agreement. 
  9. Disability Support Services
    • Students can request accommodations by submitting a New Student Request Form using your FDU email (NetID). Appropriate documentation can be faxed to 973-443-8080 or mailed to:

  10. Send Your Final Transcripts or GED
    • A final high school transcript showing proof of graduation is required from your school counselor.  
    • Your school counselor can submit your official transcript to the Office of Admissions at myapp@fdu.edu or mail it to:

    • If you have earned a GED, please submit an official copy to the Office of Admissions.  
    • All documents are processed at the Metropolitan regardless of the campus you will attend.

  11. Submit your AP, IB, and College Credits 
    • Final testing results for Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and final, official transcript(s) should be sent to the Office of Admissions at myapp@fdu.edu or mailed it to:

  12. Submit Your Middle College Credits
    • Students who participated in Fairleigh Dickinson’s Middle College Program during high school can request their Middle College Transcripts; you will need your FDU ID number. Please submit your Middle College transcript to the Office of Admissions at myapp@fdu.edu or mail it to:

  13. Apply for your FDU ID Card
    • An email from TRANSACT will be sent to your FDU email after you have deposited and activated your NETID.
    • A week before you arrive on campus, upload a photo of yourself to TRANSACT to be used as your ID photo. 
    • FDU ID cards can either be picked-up at the campus Public Safety Office (commuter students) or given to you at the time of resident check-in (resident students).

  14. Register Your Vehicle and Get Your Campus Parking Decal
    • Upon arrival to campus fill out the Vehicle Registration application at either resident check-in (resident students) or the Office of Public Safety (commuter students)

  15. Sign up for the FDU Alert System and MYEOP App
    • To sign up for FDUAlert:
      1. FDUAlert is the university-wide emergency notification system to keep you informed about campus emergencies and closures.
      2. Go to FDU Self Service and log in, using your FDU NetID and password. 
      3. Select your status from the menu (Faculty, Employee, Advisor or Student)
      4. Click on the FDUAlert link, review your information for accuracy, make any necessary changes, and submit. 
    • To Sign up for MYEOP
      1. The MYEOP app gives you the most up-to-date information about what to do in case of a campus emergency.
      2. Download the MYEOP app for iOS or Android from your app store.
      3. Choose Fairleigh Dickinson University.
      4. Login using password: fdueop
  16. Designate a FERPA Release 
    • Go to FDU Self Service and log in, using your FDU NetID and password to complete a FERPA consent form.
  17. Create a Handshake Account
    • Handshake is your portal to employment opportunities while you are a student and beyond. On and off campus positions, including Federal Work Study positions, can be found on this platform.
