A student in a mask holds up bags.Jan. 6, 2021 — Beginning on Monday, Jan. 18 through Friday, Jan. 22, Fairleigh Dickinson University Florham Campus resident students will be permitted to move-in to the residence halls.

Though dates are subject to change pending emerging federal, state, and local guidance, we are planning for two move-in periods; one for students traveling from areas requiring a quarantine, and one for all other students.

We are committed to making your on-campus living one of the most memorable FDU experiences. Please review the following information in full to ensure a safe and successful move-in process.

Quarantine-state or territory students

Students who will be traveling to campus from any U.S. state or territory outside of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Delaware can move in beginning Thursday, Jan. 14. Please note that any students moving onto campus at this time will be required to quarantine in their spring assignments for 10 days, and will only be permitted to leave their room to pick up food from a limited menu from the dining hall, do laundry, go to medical appointments, or for emergency reasons. Students will be expected not to leave unless for these reasons, and students will not be permitted to have any resident guests during this time.

To schedule your move-in if you fall in this group, please email fduhousing@fdu.edu by Jan. 8, 2021.

Please note that students moving in from quarantine states or territories will still be required to take PCR tests on campus upon their arrival. As such, students will need to submit a valid insurance card to Health Services prior to move-in. Further instructions below.

Move-in for all other students

Move-in is scheduled from 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday, Jan. 18 through Friday, Jan. 22. In order to support the health and safety of our community, all students moving onto campus will undergo a PCR nasal swab test upon arrival. As such, students will need to submit a valid insurance card to Health Services prior to move-in. Further instructions below.

All students will need to quarantine until every resident in their room or suite has received their test results. Students quarantining while waiting for PCR COVID-19 test results can move into, and quarantine in, their spring housing assignments. These students will be permitted to leave their room to retrieve food from the dining hall, do laundry, go to medical appointments, or for emergency reasons. Students will be expected not to leave unless for these reasons, and students will not be permitted to have any resident guests during this time.

Students who are exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms when arriving for move-in will also be given a rapid COVID-19 test; these students will be permitted to move into isolation spaces on campus until their PCR test results are delivered.

For the spring, students moving onto campus can sign up for a time slot to take a COVID-19 test here.

You will sign up for a testing time. Following your test, you can move into your residence hall. Once you begin your move-in, the limit for anyone assisting you is no more than 120 minutes in the hall.

Below is an FAQ to help you better understand the move-in process.
