Press Release: Fairleigh Dickinson University names Steven Nelson Metropolitan Campus Executive
Teaneck, NJ (February 22, 2019) — Steven Nelson has been appointed to the position of Metropolitan Campus Executive, effective March 1, announced Gillian Small, University provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.

“As we continue to work on the objectives outlined in our strategic plan, we are pleased to welcome Steven Nelson as the new Metropolitan Campus Executive,” said Small. “We look forward to him bringing his many years of experience in various roles in higher education to his new role at FDU.”
Nelson has served in senior leadership positions at several institutions of higher education where he has overseen admissions, financial aid, academics, finance, career services, information technology and compliance. In his most recent position as the campus president/dean of campuses for DeVry University-NJ/PA, he had oversight of four campuses and centers with over 1,700 students. There, he also collaborated and forged partnerships with the local business community and government agencies such as Workforce Development and the New Jersey Talent Networks.
Nelson received his J.D. from Rutgers University and his MBA from Indiana University. He has previously served in the United States Air Force and is a current member of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He also was the campus president at the Everest Institute in Pittsburgh, the director of operations for Kaplan Higher Education’s Career Institute in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and executive director for Kaplan College in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
