Academic Profile
I am the author of two books examining Charles H. Thompson’s contributions to the civil rights movement and African American higher education’s development.
I recently completed Charles H. Thompson on Desegregation, Democracy, and Education, 1953-1963. Madison, NJ: Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, 2020.
Subsequently, I authored Charles H. Thompson: Policy Entrepreneur of the Civil Rights Movement, 1932-1954. Madison, NJ: Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, 2012. Winner: American Educational Studies Association Critics’ Choice Book Award (2013). This volume analyzed the contributions of the policy research published in the Journal of Negro Education to overturning segregation as public policy in the US.
