The Journal of Action Research in EducationFairleigh Dickinson University School of EducationThe Journal of Action Research in Education is a new peer-reviewed research journal to be launched in 2002 by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Peter Sammartino School of Education. The Journal will serve as an action research publication forum for studies within the field of pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade education, publishing contributions from school action researchers, including pre-service teachers and education professors from the United States and global education community. The editors encourage university and public libraries to begin subscribing to The Journal of Action Research in Education, starting with volume 1, published annually beginning in 2002. Make inquiries to editors below or call (201) 692-2201.AUTHOR’S GUIDELINES: Submit by February 15, 2002 for 2002 publication. Submit three copies for blind review with a SASE. Manuscripts must be typed, not to exceed 12 pages, double-spaced, including an abstract of approximately 150 words, references, charts and tables. Manuscripts must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Note: It is the aim of the editors that all contributions will be written in clear English that allows access for readers who are not researchers. Action research involves “educators generating the knowledge that informs their practice… while making meaningful contributions to the teaching profession” (Sagor, 1992). Action research methodology should be reported in a concise manner, with strong emphasis placed on the applications and implications of the research findings. Submit a title page that includes: title, authors’ names, titles, institutional affiliation, home address, phone numbers (home and work), e-mail address, and a statement verifying that the manuscript has not been published nor is under consideration for publication. Only the title of the article (no authors’ names or affiliation) should appear as a header within the manuscript to allow for an unbiased peer review. Notification of status of manuscripts will be acknowledged within two months of receipt. Authors are responsible for accuracy of all information within the manuscript.
