Transformational Excellence Awards
The Transformational Excellence Awards formally recognize outstanding Fairleigh Dickinson University faculty and staff for their achievements and contributions to providing a transformational experience for our students and for strengthening campus life and community wellness.
The goal of this awards program is to help foster a culture that promotes and recognizes the profound impact that faculty and staff have on transforming the lives of those they engage with and serve.
Those individuals who exemplify such excellence will be presented an award pin, which we encourage them to wear regularly to display their recognition as Transformational Excellence Award winners. We also will celebrate those recognized on our website and on social media. Winners from the New Jersey campuses also will receive a discount coupon for the bookstore and, along with a selected guest, will get a free lunch at the dining hall. Vancouver Campus winners also will receive other items in addition to the pin.
Areas of Excellence
The awards celebrate the efforts of those who exceed expectations in three particular areas:
Student Success and Retention
This recognition is intended to acknowledge efforts of our faculty and staff toward promoting the success and retention of our students through extraordinary efforts inside and outside the classroom. This can include providing students with mentoring and support, assistance in navigating campus life or personal challenges, support in navigating challenges with finances, emotional or mental health, or any other way in which students receive support that helps them to persist and stay enrolled at FDU.
Service and Engagement
This award recognizes faculty and staff who provide levels of service and engagement through interactive activities and projects that promote campus vibrancy, participation and student involvement. This can include members of the FDU team who create, promote or engage in social, co-curricular, extracurricular or service-learning activities that enhance student learning, development and growth, as well as other service opportunities that enhance campus life and the University.
Creating a Community of Belonging
This recognition acknowledges faculty and staff who go above and beyond to create a community where students can feel a sense of care, inclusion and belonging. It can acknowledge any way in which students feel supported by the actions of an FDU team member who invests time and effort into creating a supportive, creative and intellectual home that offers students a sense of welcoming, safety and emotional wellness.
