Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide

This Toolkit provides information for parents/caregivers on common mental health issues, warning signs, and resources available. Its purpose is to help them understand how to advocate for their child and respond to concerning behaviors in a timely manner. The Toolkit is designed to be distributed through schools, pediatric offices, or mental health professionals.  The Toolkit is a comprehensive, yet concise, list of what to DO, what to ASK, and what to EXPECT.

Bergen County Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services Stigma-Free Initiative

The Bergen County STIGMA-FREE Initiative is a county-wide program that aims to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. We are dedicated to raising awareness of the disease of mental illness and creating a culture wherein residents who have the disease feel supported by their community and neighbors and feel free to seek treatment for the disease without fear of stigma.

988 Lifeline  (Nationwide) Mental Health Crisis and Suicide Prevention phone
Dial or Text 988

Compassionate, accessible care and support will be available for anyone experiencing mental health-related distress, thoughts of suicide, mental health or substance use crisis. People can also dial 988 if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support.  The 988 Lifeline is available 24/7/365. Conversations are free and confidential.

New Jersey Governor’s Council on Mental Health Stigma

Many people do not seek help for mental illnesses or substance use disorders because of stigma, whether that is felt by the individuals themselves or expressed by other people in their lives.  Combating stigma starts with education. This website has many resources to make people aware of the myths and the realities.

ReachNJ, New Jersey’s Addiction Helpline

A central call-in line for New Jersey residents who are looking for help with a substance use disorder (SUD). Each call to ReachNJ is answered by a live person in the first 30 seconds. Trained staff will screen callers to identify their exact needs, are able to provide referrals to supportive services and a seamless connection to a local treatment provider. ReachNJ serves NJ residents of all ages, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
