About Us

Founded within Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College of Psychology and Counseling, The Empathy Center bridges research and real-world application.

Our founders, Dr. Steven M. Dranoff and Dr. Benjamin Freer, bring decades of clinical, organizational, and academic expertise, building programs that measure, teach, and expand empathy across sectors, including business, healthcare, government, education, and faith-based communities.

Together, they’ve developed a proven model that transforms empathy from theory into action, building cultures of respect, trust, and communication.
