Student Health Insurance

New Jersey Department of Health legislation requires students at public and private educational institutions to maintain health insurance, and further requires those institutions to offer coverage to the student population. Student Insurance is not provided by Student Health Services.

For more information about the Insurance Plan, please visit the firststudent.com website.

Commencing August 15, 2012, Fairleigh Dickinson University offers an Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan underwritten by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company. All full-time undergraduate students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours, all full-time graduate students enrolled in 9 or more credit hours and all international students, regardless of credit hours, are automatically enrolled on a hard waiver basis. Those students who wish to waive out of the Student Health Insurance must provide evidence of comparable coverage. Dependents (including Domestic Partners) of insured students are eligible to enroll on a voluntary basis.

Once you are registered for classes and you intend to accept the UnitedHealthcare policy, you will need to acknowledge enrollment and request an ID card.

For any student that has comparable insurance coverage, you have the option to waive the insurance plan.
