Hosted by Vaniah Howell, assistant professor of animation, and the School of the Arts. The artist charity gallery showcases original artwork created and sold by FDU students. 50% of all funds will be donated back to LGBTQIA+ youth. Florham Campus: Library Lobby, Monninger Center. April 2, 2024 at 4 PM: “The Poetry of Pride”

Hosted by Kathryn Douglas, assistant professor of creative writing, the Progress Pride Club and the FDU Florham Campus Library. Come hear the poetry of the LGBTQIA+ community. Listen, read your own work, or the work of others. If you are not sure about what you would like to read, some poems will be available—or, just come and listen and if the mood strikes you, read! April 3, 2024 at 3 PM PDT: “Pride Speaker Series with Phiroozeh Petigara”

Phiroozeh Petigara is a queer South Asian healer, writer and teacher. A trauma-informed yoga instructor, reiki practitioner and storytelling coach, Petigara specializes in supporting queer and trans BIPOC (Black, indigenous and people of color) as they endeavor to lead healing and authentic lives. A conversation discussing research on the state of diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and reconciliation in tourism and hospitality businesses in British Columbia. Jarrett Bachman is the associate director of the FDU International School of Hospitality, Sports, and Tourism Management and an associate professor of hospitality and tourism management. April 10, 2024 at 4 PM: “Beyond Coming Out Stories”a person holding books and a pride flag

Hosted by April Patrick, university director of Honors and associate professor of literature. A panel exploring LGBTQIA+ diversity in young adult literature. The student panel, who have taken Young Adult Literature at FDU in the past three years, will explore the wide range of representations of queer characters and situations in young adult literature. This diversity is an evolution from past literary representations that focused on the coming out narrative for most of these characters. More recent texts include a character’s sexuality as just one of the many interesting things about them, not as their primary or sole quality. Student panelists include Jules Aid, Shannon DiCristina, Lucia Krautheim, Ben Levin and Julianna Vockroth. The panel will be moderated April Patrick. Refreshments provided.
