New Master of Health Administration Program Prepares Leaders for a Changing Canadian Healthcare System
Vancouver, BC – Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) Vancouver proudly announces the launch of its new Master of Health Administration (MHA) program as British Columbia undertakes renewed demand and need for healthcare administration, governance and policy development, and system efficiency and effectiveness.
As healthcare systems across Canada face increasing demands for efficiency and improved patient outcomes, the need for capable health administrators has never been greater. Based on the B.C. Labour Market Outlook report, more than 4,500 management positions in the healthcare sector are expected to open from 2025-2035. These opportunities reflect not only workforce growth but also the increasing complexity of healthcare governance, policy development, and system innovation.
“B.C. healthcare today requires leaders who understand both the complexity of the system and the communities it serves,” said Dr. Abiola Adeniyi, MHA Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator. “Our MHA program prepares graduates to engage thoughtfully with healthcare governance, administrative efficiency, and system improvement, skills that are increasingly critical in Canada’s healthcare landscape.”
FDU Vancouver’s MHA program responds directly to this demand by equipping students with advanced competencies in health policy analysis, healthcare informatics, organizational leadership, and operations management. The curriculum is designed to strengthen administrative capacity while supporting system effectiveness, aligning with provincial priorities to enhance care delivery and ensure sustainable healthcare management.
Students with relevant healthcare experience are able to upgrade their education and skill sets needed to succeed in the private or public health sector. The MHA curriculum equips students with analytical tools, hands-on internship and capstone experience, and evidence-based decision-making skills to support sustainable healthcare delivery across hospitals, health authorities, and policy organizations. While the program focuses on healthcare leadership and administration, it does not provide a pathway to clinical or professional licensing.
“The future of healthcare in Canada depends on leaders who are not only skilled administrators, but bold innovators,” added Dr. Adeniyi. “We must develop professionals who can rethink systems, embrace data and technology, and design solutions that improve access, equity, and patient outcomes. At FDU Vancouver, we are preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders to drive meaningful, sustainable transformation across our healthcare system.”
