Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Groups

The Center for Psychological Services offers Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-based skills groups designed for both adolescents (ages 13-17) and adults (ages 18+). DBT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to effectively help individuals facing challenges such as:

  • emotion dysregulation
  • impulsivity
  • self-harming behaviors
  • difficulties in interpersonal relationships

In our DBT-based groups, participants will develop practical skills across three core content areas of emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, with mindfulness training included throughout.

Groups take place once a week for 90 minutes and require a commitment of 8 weeks. Through these sessions, individuals can build a toolkit of strategies to:

  • navigate intense emotions
  • improve relationships
  • make better decisions under stress
  • create a “life worth living

Groups will meet once per week, for a minimum of 8 weeks (participants may opt to continue past 8 weeks). Interested participants can receive DBT skills training in individual sessions while waiting for the next group to be formed.

Cost:

  • $215 for an 8-week group
  • $25/session for individual DBT skills training
