  • Every year, during November/December months, eligible CS, IT and Engineering majors interested in Cybersecurity are invited to apply for this prestigious Scholarship award. The award includes annual full-tuition, $25,000 stipend, $1,500 book award, a laptop, summer internship at a DoD Agency, and a guaranteed job after graduation at the Agency. US citizenship is required and the applicant has to be in her/his Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year with a minimum GPA of 3.2.

    This is for current undergraduate & graduate college students.

    These students are able to learn about the DHS cybersecurity mission by completing hands-on cybersecurity work and building technical experience in key areas such as digital forensics, network diagnostics, and incident response.

    In the 2016 Cyber Student Volunteer Initiative program cycle, over 80 student volunteer assignments are available at over 40 local DHS field offices across the country and eight participating DHS Components, to include:

    • Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
    • Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
    • National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD)
    • Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO)
    • Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A)
    • Office of Policy/Cyber, Infrastructure and Resilience Policy
    • Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
    • United States Coast Guard (USCG)

  • The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship hopes to encourage women to excel in computing and technology and become active role models and leaders in the field.

    Who can apply? 
    Applicants must satisfy all of the following criteria to be eligible:

    • be a female student currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at a university for the 2015-2016 academic year
    • intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at a university in the United States for the 2016-2017 academic year
    • majoring in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field
    • maintain a strong academic record
    • exemplify leadership and demonstrate passion for increasing the involvement of women in computer science

    The applications for the David L. Boren Scholarships and Fellowships are now available at www.borenawards.org . Boren Awards provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study in Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East, where they can add important international and language components to their educations. Boren Scholars and Fellows represent a variety of academic backgrounds, but all are interested in studying less commonly taught languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Hindi, Mandarin, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili.

    Undergraduate students can receive up to $20,000 for an academic year’s study abroad and graduate students up to $30,000 for language study and international research. In exchange for funding, recipients commit to working in the federal government for a minimum of one year.

    The Boren Awards has several special initiatives to diversify the types of students that study abroad and the languages they are studying.

  • It’s 2016. The country’s economy has collapsed. The nation’s stock market is in the midst of a catastrophic crash. The monetary system has suffered a cataclysmic meltdown. The government is expected to lead the recovery of this tragic situation, however they lack the experience and expertise. All of this has happened not because of mismanagement, or government over spending, or poor regulations…but because of one thing: an information technology infrastructure full of vulnerabilities that have been easily exploited by cyber terrorists. Now it is up to a team of 8 individuals to implement a Cyber Bail Out.

  • The NCL has a powerful and proven model – provide an ongoing virtual training ground for faculty and students to develop and validate cybersecurity skills using content aligned with individual and team games – which is scalable across many industry certifications, curricula, job roles, and verticals.

  • The Honors Internship Program will be a paid summer program starting June 13, 2016. All interested candidates must apply through www.FBIJobs.gov. Assignments will be based on the current skills needed, and available internship assignments throughout the Bureau.

    In order to participate in the Honors Internship Program, a candidate

    • Must be a U.S. citizen
    • Enrolled full-time and attending an accredited college or university
    • Posses an overall 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale
    • Must be classified as an Undergraduate (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior), Graduate or Post Doctorate Student
    • Cannot have graduated before the program begins
    • Must pass all FBI employment background investigation requirements and receive a Top Secret security clearance

  • The Cryptanalysis and Exploitation Services Summer Program (CES SP) is open to undergraduate students majoring in mathematics, computer science, or a major with a strong background in math and computer science. CESSP provides an opportunity for exceptional undergraduates majoring in mathematics, computer science, and related fields to work directly with National Security Agency analysts on real, mission-critical cryptanalysis problems. As a CES SP participant, you will develop a deep understanding of the vital role that mathematics and computer science play in tackling a diverse set of technical challenges at NSA. You’ll also experience firsthand the excitement of working on problems of national importance. If you possess imagination, initiative and intellectual curiosity, apply for the CES SP.

  • The Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP), provides an opportunity for students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer.

    The goals of NREIP are to encourage participating students to pursue science and engineering careers, to further education via mentoring by laboratory personnel and their participation in research, and to make them aware of DoN research and technology efforts, which can lead to employment within the DoN.

    NREIP provides competitive research internships to approximately 275 college students (200 undergraduate students and 75 graduate students) each year. Participating students spend ten weeks during the summer conducting research at approximately 29 DoN laboratories.

  • The National CyberWatch Center is pleased to announce the opening of the National Cybersecurity Student Association! This is an exclusive online community for students in Information Assurance/Cybersecurity programs.     CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program. At the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. The competition puts teams of high school and middle school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. In the rounds of competition, teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services in a six hour period. Teams compete for the top placement within their state and region, and the top teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Baltimore, MD for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.​

  • Passaic County Community College (PCCC): A STEM Research Experience for Students

    A partnership between FDU and the STEM program at PCCC will facilitate a research experience for PCCC students.  The goal is to engage students in high end research projects and encourage continuing studies in higher education.  Dr. Zhiwei Mao, Assistant Professor of the Gildart Haase School of Computer Sciences and Engineering at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) will lead the research for 6 (six) students from Passaic County Community College (PCCC).  The topics of concentration are Engineering Science; Electrical Engineering Technology; Computer Science; Computer Forensics; Information Technology; Computer Engineering; Mathematics; and Neuroscience.

  • The Digital Forensics Club was launched in 2007 as a joint collaboration between faculty of the Gildart Haase School of Computer Sciences and Engineering and the Petrocelli College School of Administrative Sciences, home to the University’s Cybercrime Laboratory. Club membership is open to all full- and part-time students at the University. It is cost-free with interested students meeting twice per month over an eight-week period each semester. A forensics expert will introduce participants to a host of activities on mobile device forensics and engage students in hands-on exercises and experiments. The sessions will be held in the Cybercrime Training Laboratory on the Metropolitan Campus. Interested students are encouraged to contact Dr. Eamon Doherty at doherty@fdu.edu or mlewis@fdu.edu to learn more about this unique opportunity.

  • The OWASP SJ and ASIS Security is inviting you to their Hacktoberfest. This is a large event targeted for HS students and their parents and local college students. With the partnership of the FBI, CIA, and NSA as well the Wall Township schools, Brookdale, Monmouth U, Ocean CC, Ryder, and Princeton.

    The annual event will be an awesome opportunity for everyone to learn about coding in addition to promoting all the awesome stuff at InfoAge. The events of the day will be a round robin workshop approach with stations devoted to Social Engineering, Cell Phone Hacks, Raspberry Pi Hacks, Mask making, and information sessions with the FBI, CIA, and NSA.

  • Fairleigh Dickinson University each year receives a NJ State official letter of invitation from Governor Christie to encourage University students enrolled as of the Fall term each year to participate in a Cyber Corps challenge to win top honors and earn scholarships to leading colleges and universities. The Cyber Corps Challenge has two parts – an entry-level, on-line competition and a State Finals event to be held at Brookdale Community College around March each year. It’s free for all students.   • Are you interested in going to Wroxton this summer? Are you interested in studying Introduction to Computer Network Security or Introduction to Cybercrime & Computer? 

    Course Description

    This course will introduce the basics of computer (confidentiality, message integrity, etc.) and investigate ways to prevent hackers from accessing websites. Encryption processes and firewall protection may not be enough for someone who wants to access data on your computer system. This course will analyze formal criteria and properties of hardware, software, and database security systems and will determine ways to improve overall site and system security. Additional topics to be reviewed include: formal specifications, verification of security properties, security policies that includes hardening a site and preventing intrusion, detection of an intrusion and how to react to such an intrusion,safeguards for systems organizational training and protocols, and other methods for providing data security in this technical age will be reviewed and assessed. Online classes starts June 1st – August 1st2014. You will then go to Wroxton England from July 12th – July 19th2014.
