Vancouver Faculty: Information Technology
Dr. Vasudevan Janarthanan is a full-time Associate Professor in the Gildart Haase School of Computer Science and Engineering at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is the coordinator and campus chair for the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Master of Science in Computer Science programs at the Vancouver campus. He received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, in 2007. He also holds a Masters Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University and a Bachelors Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Jalandhar, India. His research interests include real-time control, supervisory control, real-time embedded systems, scheduling for cloud-based systems, discrete-event systems and theoretical computer science. Dr Vasu speaks Tamil, Hindi, French, and a little Punjabi.
Yin Maung, Adjunct Faculty for Digital Media Arts, was born in Myanmar and spent her formative years in Singapore. She later moved to Edmonton for her education at the University of Alberta where she earned her Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Marketing Major) and Master of Arts in Communications and Technology.
Yin also holds a diploma in Multimedia Production and has 8 years of experience in the multi-faceted world of web and graphic design. She is keen to share her knowledge in the areas of creating and manipulating visual elements for web/print, designing web content architecture and developing strategic web communication plans in the government and corporate sector.
Yin moved to the coast of beautiful British Columbia in 2008 because of her passion for the outdoors. On her days off, she enjoys rock climbing, biking and paddling. Yin is also an active volunteer with her web/graphic design skills for organizations such as Innovative Canadians for Change (ICChange) and the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association (SCCA). Yin speaks Burmese, Mandarin, and English.
Sourav Mukherjee is a full-time Lecturer at the Gildart Haase School of Computer Science and Engineering at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Vancouver. He received his MS and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), USA, in 2007 and 2010, respectively. Prior to his graduate studies, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University, Calcutta, India in 2005.
His doctoral research focused on the study of Stochastic Graph Grammars as probability models for graph data. In addition to academic research, he is experienced in software development at various companies including Microsoft and Amazon.
His research interests include Machine Learning, Grammatical Models, Graph Theoretic Algorithms, Distributed Systems, and Design and Analysis of Algorithms.
