Vancouver Campus 2024 Commencement

Congratulations Class of 2023-2024!

Fairleigh Dickinson University – Vancouver Campus is pleased to announce that two Commencement Ceremonies are scheduled for May 1st, 2024, at The Centre for Performing Arts, located at 777 Homer St.

The first Ceremony is scheduled for 12:00 pm, with a subsequent ceremony at 03:30 pm. Graduating students will be assigned to one of these ceremonies.

First Ceremony -12:00pm

Second Ceremony – 03:30pm

  • Bachelor of Arts in Individualized Studies

  • Master of Administrative Science- Emergency Management Administration

  • Master of Administrative Science- Global Technology Administration
  • Master of Administrative Science- Human Resources Administration

Starting February 1st until February 29th, all declared 2023-2024 graduating students will be invited to register for the Commencement Ceremony using Build a Grad.

Pre-Commencement Dinner

The Pre-Commencement Dinner will take place on Tuesday, April 30th at 5:00 pm at the Italian Cultural Centre located at 3075 Slocan Street.

Starting on February 1st until February 29th, all declared 2023-2024 graduating students will be invited to register for the Pre-Commencement Dinner using Build a Grad.

Vancouver Graduation Salute

FDU-Vancouver will host a Salute on Monday, April 29th, 2024. The Salute is a family friendly event offering different activities on campus to all graduating students.

Location: Cambie location

Time: 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Gowns and Regalia

Students are able to order their Regalia through Build A Grad website: https://www.buildagrad.com/fdu from Feb 1st to February 29, 2024.  

Should you have missed the ordering date, please email vancouver-graduation@fdu.edu. We will do our best to accommodate late orders.

Gowns Pick-Up

Students who ordered their Regalia will be able to collect it from room 210 (second floor, Cambie Campus) during the following dates:

Friday April 26th from 10:00 am to 6:00pm

Monday April 29th from 10:00 am to 6:00pm

Regalia packages are only available for those graduating students who pre-ordered a graduation package. If you missed the ordering deadline, please contact vancouver-graduation@fdu.edu

Please book your appointment to pick up your regalia starting on April 1st, 2024 here.

Remember to bring your STUDENT ID or any other official piece of ID. If you want a friend or family member to collect your gown, please email us at vancouver-graduation@fdu.edu. Include your name, ID number and the name of the person who will be collecting on your behalf. This person must book an appointment using the above link.

Grad Greetings Video

Graduating students are invited to submit a 30 second long video to take part in the annual Grad Greetings video message. These messages should express your appreciation to those who have helped you reach this milestone and other meaningful messages you wish to convey.

Grad Slide Show

The Vancouver Campus is putting together a slide show with fun photos to include in the Commencement Ceremony. Send up to 4 photos of your time at FDU before Friday, April 19th.

Graduation Honors and Awards

Undergraduate students whose cumulative grade point ratio (CGPR) is 3.85 or higher will receive their degree summa cum laude; if the CGPR is 3.67, magna cum laude; if the CGPR is 3.33, cum laude. Only weighted grades will be included in computing honors. Only the credits taken at Fairleigh Dickinson University, a minimum of 54 credits, will be used in this evaluation.

Students who qualify to graduate with honors will receive a medal.

Pinnacle Award

Each year faculty and staff nominate one undergraduate student from the graduating class for the Pinnacle Award. The student is invited to speak at the Commencement Ceremony.

Graduate Program Speaker

Each year a graduating representative from the graduate program is invited to speak on behalf of the class at the Commencement Ceremony.

Guests

Graduating students can invite up to 4 guests to the Commencement Ceremony. To request more tickets please email us at vancouver-graduation@fdu.edu. Students requesting extra tickets will be put on a waitlist.

Graduating students can invite 1 person to the Pre-Commencement Dinner with an additional cost of $40 USD. Preference will be given to Graduating Students.  The number of guest tickets is limited. Tickets will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. Guest tickets are not guaranteed.

Studio Graduation Photos

To book your personal portrait sitting, please contact Artona by calling 604.872.7272, or visit their website at www.artonagroup.com. Click the “My School Info” button on the homepage. Enter “Fairleigh Dickinson University”. Follow the on-line instructions.

There is a $15 non-refundable sitting fee and a $60 refundable deposit. The $60 deposit allows them to produce and send you previews of your photos, which will be applied to your photo order.

Diplomas

Diplomas will be available for pick up at the main FDU Vancouver Campus about 8 weeks after the date of graduation. Unless otherwise specified by the student, all diplomas will be available for pickup at the Vancouver Campus (842 Cambie).

Student Loan Exit Interviews

Students who have received Canadian student loans are required to attend an exit interview with the Director of Enrollment Services during their final trimester. To book an appointment please email esvancouver@fdu.edu.

Invitation letter for Commencement Ceremony

Please be aware that the University does not provide invitation letters for parents or relatives attending the Commencement Ceremony in Canada.

If you would like to invite family members to Canada to attend your Commencement Ceremony, you can use the invitation letter template available here: Family Invitation Letter for Canada Immigration

Ensure to fill in the bolded portions of the letter with the appropriate information.
