Vancouver Campus 2022 Commencement

Congratulations Class of 2021-2022!

Fairleigh Dickinson University – Vancouver Campus will be hosting its 13th Commencement Ceremony in-person on Thursday, May 5th at 12:00 pm at the Westside Church located at 777 Homer Street.

Starting on February 1st until February 28th, all declared 2021-2022 graduating students will be invited to register for the Commencement Ceremony using Build a Grad.

Please note that this and all Commencement-related events are subject to change due to the evolving nature of COVID-19. FDU-Vancouver will follow Provincial Health Authorities guidelines.

Pre-Commencement Dinner

The Pre-Commencement Dinner will take place on Wednesday, May 4th at 5:00 pm at the Italian Cultural Centre located at 3075 Slocan St.

Starting on February 1st until February 28th, all declared 2021-2022 graduating students will be invited to register for the Pre-Commencement Dinner using Build a Grad.

Vancouver Graduation Salute

For the first time and following the traditions of our main Campus, FDU-Vancouver will host a Salute on Monday, May 2nd, 2022. The Salute is a family friendly event offering different activities on campus to all graduating students.

Gowns and Regalia

Students are able to order their Regalia through Build A Grad website: by February 28, 2022.

Gowns Pick-Up

Students who ordered their Regalia will be able to collect it at FDU (842 Cambie Street) starting from: Monday, April 25 – Friday, April 29, 2022.

Regalia packages are only available for those graduating students who pre-ordered a graduation package. If you missed the ordering deadline, please contact

Remember to bring your STUDENT ID or any other official piece of ID. If you want a friend or family member to collect your gown, please email us at Include your name, ID number and the name of the person who will be collecting on your behalf. This person must book an appointment using the above link.

All graduating students are required to complete the Commencement Exit Survey before collecting their regalia. Take a screenshot when you complete the survey to show us during pick up.

To ensure the safety of our staff and students, all visitors will be required to follow COVID-19 safety protocols upon entry. If you are feeling sick, please stay home and book another time to collect your gown or ask a friend to do this for you.

Grad Greetings Video

Graduating students are invited to submit a 30 seconds long video to take part in the annual Grad Greetings video message. These messages should express your appreciation to those who have helped you reach this milestone and other meaningful messages you wish to convey. 

Graduating students will receive an email with further instructions regarding the Grad Greeting Video records dates.

Grad Slide Show

The Vancouver Campus is putting together a slide show with fun photos to include in the Virtual Commencement Ceremony. Send up to 4 photos of your time at FDU before Friday, April 22nd.

Graduation Honors and Awards

Undergraduate students whose cumulative grade point ratio (CGPR) is 3.85 or higher will receive their degree summa cum laude; if the CGPR is 3.67, magna cum laude; if the CGPR is 3.33, cum laude. Only weighted grades will be included in computing honors. Only the credits taken at Fairleigh Dickinson University, a minimum of 54 credits, will be used in this evaluation.

Students who qualify to graduate with honors will receive a medal.

Pinnacle Award

Each year faculty and staff nominate one undergraduate student from the graduating class for the Pinnacle Award. The student is invited to speak for the Virtual Commencement Ceremony.

Graduate Program Speaker

Each year a graduating representative from the graduate program is invited to speak on behalf of the class at the Commencement Ceremony.

At first, due to capacity restrictions as a result of COVID-19, graduating students were only able to invite one guest to the Commencement Ceremony and zero to the Pre-Commencement Dinner. As of March 2022, events such as Commencements are allowed to run at full capacity. Graduating students were informed to request more tickets. Studio Graduation Photos

To book your personal portrait sitting, please contact Artona by calling 604.872.7272, or visit their website at Click the “My School Info” button on the homepage. Enter “Fairleigh Dickinson University”. Follow the on-line instructions.

There is a $15 non-refundable sitting fee and a $60 refundable deposit. The $60 deposit allows them to produce and send you previews of your photos, which will be applied to your photo order.

Diplomas will be available for pick up at the main FDU Vancouver Campus about 8 weeks after the date of graduation. Unless otherwise specified, all diplomas will be available for pickup at the Vancouver Campus (842 Cambie).

Student Loan Exit Interviews
