Window Wars!

Student organizations and individual students decorated windows at the Bridge Café in Alumni Hall to reflect their identity, mission and connection to FDU. “Window Wars served not only as a competition, but also as a meaningful celebration of student involvement, creativity and FDU pride,” says Antoinette Arce, coordinator for campus engagement and special projects at the Metropolitan Campus. First place went to a group of student athletes, second place to Christian Fellowship and third place to the Black Student Union.

I’ve spent eight years on the air across WFDU’s channels and have enjoyed meeting our audience at local community events. The response to our 2026 fund drive was incredibly heartwarming — this year we raised more than $260,000!

Love is in the Air
“The love story section [in Winter/Spring 2026] is awesome. My wife Rachelle Thomas (née Wilkinson), AA’86, BS’88 (Metro), and I are graduates of FDU. I played on the first Knights men’s basketball team to go to the NCAA Tournament in 1985, and Rachelle was a cheerleader. We met in 1984 in the Linden Residence Hall laundry room. We’ve been together ever since and married for 34 years.”

Time, Care and Creativity
I’m honored and truly grateful to be featured as a student in the Notables section of FDU Magazine. Being highlighted in a publication that celebrates the achievements and stories of the FDU community means a lot to me. I appreciate the time, care and creativity that went into telling my story. Thankful for the support, opportunities, and people who have helped me along this journey — excited for what’s ahead!

Twenty-one Silberman College of Business students volunteered in Puerto Rico over spring break 2026.
In partnership with nonprofits Dorado Cares and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico, the FDU group packed meals for a food truck, cleaned up a beach and painted part of a future community sports complex.
At the beach, the group collected 27 bags of trash, seven tires, one water cistern and more.
Editor’s Note: In the Winter/Spring 2026 issue, we neglected to list both of the degrees that Clarissa Maldonado Huynh, BA’18 (Flor), MA’21 (Metro), earned at FDU. We regret the error.
