Tom and Heather

Picture the scene: Pub night at the Knight Club, February 1983. Tom Bunge, BS’85 (Metro), is behind the bar. The band is rad and rocking. Heather (Neff) Bunge BS’84 (Metro), is hanging out with her friends, and eventually decides to stay after closing for one more drink and to help Bunge clean up. “That night, the timing finally clicked and we’ve been together ever since,” says Bunge. He’d been flirting with her since freshman year, when they lived in University Court residence hall. But the first time he tried to kiss her, he’d read the signals all wrong — so they stayed friends until that February night. They dated through the rest of college, moved in together, and married in 1988. Three sons and three grandchildren later, they’re still going strong, 42 years on.
