College of Nursing and Allied Health Partners with Caregility to Expand Digital-Health Education

September 30, 2026 – Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Henry P. Becton College of Nursing and Allied Health (CoNAH) is expanding its digital-health education through a new collaboration with Caregility, a Wall Township, N.J., provider of AI-enabled connected care services, giving nursing and allied health students hands-on experience with virtual-care technologies and workflows used across contemporary healthcare settings.

“Healthcare is increasingly delivered through a combination of in-person, virtual and technology-enabled environments,” said Annie Rohan, PhD, RN, FAANP, FAAN, dean of the Henry P. Becton College of Nursing and Allied Health. “Our responsibility is to ensure that students are comfortable using these technologies before they enter practice, while also helping them integrate technology and artificial intelligence into their own individual workflows in ways that strengthen – not replace – clinical decision-making, communication, compassion and human connection.”

Through the Caregility initiative, and in partnership with the FDU Communication faculty in the Becton College of Liberal Arts and Education, students will have opportunities to develop skills in virtual patient communication, remote assessment and observation, patient education, interprofessional collaboration and the ethical and human dimensions of technology-enabled care. The goal is not simply to expose students to virtual-care platforms, but to embrace communication science to help them build situational awareness and confidence needed to use these tools effectively in real-world practice.

The Caregility program will be integrated within CoNAH’s new Academic Achievement Center, under the direction of Maria Moffa, JD, MS, CPC, Director of Experiential Learning and Digital Health Operations. The Center provides resources and targeted academic support designed to strengthen communication, clinical reasoning and technology-related competencies, including digital communication, AI-integrated clinical decision-making and medical math agility.

The Center also includes the ChartSmart Lab, where students receive structured Epic Lyceum electronic health record training. Together, Caregility and Epic Lyceum provide students with experience in two increasingly interconnected dimensions of healthcare delivery: caring for patients across virtual and technology- enabled environments and documenting, interpreting and managing care within the electronic health record.

Collectively, these efforts help prepare future nurses and allied health professionals, as well as future health-adjacent professionals, to navigate technology-rich healthcare environments while keeping human dignity, compassion and ethical judgment at the center of care.
