Academic Profile
Dr. Amo is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in the Occupational Therapy Department. She has over 10 years of experience as an occupational therapist, holding a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy and a Master of Occupational Therapy from Bay Path University, and a Bachelor of Arts from New York University.
Dr. Amo has clinical experience across early intervention, school-based practice, skilled nursing, and community-based rehabilitation, with a focus on family-centered care. She has coordinated experiential placements for occupational therapy students, speech-language pathology students, and pediatric medical residents. Her research interests include early childhood development, community health, cultural competency, and the impact of social determinants of health on occupational participation. She has participated in community-based research projects on topics including autism detection and intervention, sleep development in early childhood, and supporting immigrant families and children.
Dr. Amo is excited to contribute to the continued development of the FDU OTD program and is looking forward to collaborating with students as they translate classroom learning into meaningful, reflective, and socially responsive occupational therapy practice.
