Academic Profile
Dr. Sarah Schaaf earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She also holds an M.S. in Forensic Psychology from Maastricht University in the Netherlands and previously served as an international visiting scholar in the Sex Offender Research Lab at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care/University Correctional Health Care (UBHC/UCHC) Correctional Track in New Jersey.
Dr. Schaaf’s research centers on the prevention of sexual violence, with the aim of advancing evidence-based prevention and intervention strategies. Her work focuses on online and offline sexual exploitation, the intersection of diversity and sexual violence, and equitable access to jail diversion for individuals charged with sexually violent offenses.
Clinically, Dr. Schaaf specializes in forensic and correctional mental health, with expertise in forensic assessment and sexual violence intervention. She currently serves as Clinical Director of a jail diversion and community reintegration program in Queens, NY, where she oversees clinical operations for justice-involved individuals with serious mental illness across multiple court jurisdictions.
