How to Apply for Housing

Once you have submitted your Residence Hall Deposit ($200), for first year and new students residents, the next step is to complete your online housing application. You are just one click away from applying for housing. You will need your FDU NetID in order to begin the online housing application. Please follow the instructions below to apply online for housing.

Step 1 – Log in to www.fdu.edu/MyHousing to begin the online housing application process using your FDU NetID. If you do not have an FDU NetID account, please review the information on our “Before You Apply for Housing “section on how to create one.

Step 2 – Select the “Housing Application” from the menu.

Step 3 – Select the term you are applying for housing during. For instance, Summer 2026 or Academic Year 2026-2027.

Step 4 – If you are an upperclass student, you will select your campus and rank your preferred residence halls in the order of where you desire to live most on campus and the room type (single, double).

Step 5 – On the “Student Information” page, you will be asked to review your personal information and share your preferred first name for housing communications. If there are errors in your displayed personal information, please contact Enrollment Services.

Step 6 – on the “Contacts” page, please add your emergency contact. You may also add an optional contact in case you are reported missing.

Step 7 – On the “Residential Profile” page, you will be asked to share your living preferences. Note: “Living preferences” are only used to pair students who do not select their own roommate. You may also search for students who gave similar answers to your own.

Step 8 – For Roommate Selection, you may search for roommates by name, or by their “living preferences” from the prior page. Freshmen may also submit the name of a prospective roommate who may not yet have completed the application. Upperclass students are encouraged to re-check the Roommate Selection page regularly if their planned roommates do not yet appear.

Step 8a – If you plan to live in suite-style housing, you may create a Roommate Group and invite multiple people to join. This will allow you to select suite-style housing as a group. Note that the person who first creates the group must be the one to select the group housing during the selection process.

Step 9 – This is where you accept the terms & conditions of the Housing and Meal Plan Contract. Once you enter your student ID in the electronic signature box, and select “continue”, you have agreed to the terms of the Housing and Meal Plan Contract for the full academic year. Note: if you are under 18, you will receive directions to designate a parent or guardian as your proxy, and they will also need to sign the Housing Contract.

Step 10 –Once you have completed the online Housing Application, you will receive a “Thank You” page with further information. If you do not see this screen, you have not completed the application. A copy of the “Thank You” page and a pdf version of your Housing and Meal Plan Contract will also be sent to your email account.

Students may revisit the application and change their preferences and roommate requests.
