Special Living Options

Global Scholars Hall, Metro

The concept for the FDU’s Global Scholars was inspired by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s founding mission as an institution “of and for the world.” Located in University Court 5, these selective, residential, and academically focused scholars bring a diverse group of first year and upper-class students together for academic, residential, and co-curricular activities with a global theme. One of the annual highlights of the program is a trip to an international destination. Past trips have included visits to South Africa, Greece, and the Dominican Republic. Students join a distinctive community that is committed to developing a global perspective for tomorrow’s leaders. There is a separate application process for admittance to become a Global Scholar.

Visit the Honors web pages for information about Global Scholars and the application requirements.

Gender Inclusive Housing, Metro and Florham

Fairleigh Dickinson University Housing & Residence Life offers gender-inclusive housing as part of its ongoing commitment to developing an inclusive and welcoming campus community. Gender-inclusive Housing acknowledges the diverse needs of the study body and further develops a vibrant campus community that is positive, respectful, and inclusive for all residents. Gender-inclusive housing allows for individuals to live together without being restricted by the traditional limitations of the gender binary (male/female). Gender-inclusive Housing is a strictly opt-in housing option, and students must expressly state their desire for a gender-inclusive housing assignment.

Gender Inclusive Housing removes traditional gender restrictions and permits students to live in mixed gendered rooms. Students can choose their roommate groups and select rooms without restrictions based on sex or gender. Gender-inclusive housing is not intended for couples in non-platonic relationships. This option is available to students of any class level, including new first-year residents and transfer students. All roommates in Gender Inclusive Housing must be 18 years old or older and eligible for University Housing. Requests from Students under the age of 18 will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may require consent from a legal guardian.

Gender Inclusive housing will be offered in Village building 7 Wilder Hall on the Florham Campus and specific suites in Linden 3 for the Metro Campus.
