Fairleigh Dickinson University Vancouver is continuing its partnership with Canadian High School Model United Nations (CAHSMUN) for a second year, reinforcing its commitment to supporting youth leadership, diplomacy, and global engagement.
As a not-for-profit comprehensive university with longstanding ties to the United Nations, FDU Vancouver sees CAHSMUN as an important opportunity to extend its support for Model United Nations experiences beyond the campus, to Canadian high school students. The conference allows students to develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills while exploring their interests in diplomacy and international relations.
With approximately 1,300 participants annually, CAHSMUN remains one of the largest high school-run Model United Nations conferences in the world. This year’s programming includes discussions on stateless persons, gender-based violence, labour movements, and global industries, alongside simulations ranging from international organizations to corporate case studies involving companies such as Starbucks and Netflix.
One of the highlights of this year’s conference is the participation of Taleeb Noormohamed, Member of Parliament for Vancouver Granville, as a keynote speaker. His leadership in public service, innovation, and international dialogue makes him a highly relevant and distinguished voice for conference delegates. His participation further emphasizes the importance of civic engagement and encourages students to develop as future leaders and contributors to global society.
FDU Vancouver’s involvement with CAHSMUN closely aligns with the university’s broader global mission and longstanding relationship with the United Nations. The university integrates international perspectives into the student experience through experiential learning, leadership opportunities, and participation in Model United Nations conferences in New York.
In addition, FDU Vancouver offers a Bachelor of Arts in Individualized Studies (BAIS) program, providing an academic pathway that strongly aligns with the interests and aspirations of Model United Nations students. The BAIS program helps students further develop critical thinking, cross-cultural communication, and global awareness skills that are essential in diplomacy and international engagement.
CAHSMUN serves as an important foundation for students interested in pursuing international United Nations experiences in the future. By participating in conferences like CAHSMUN, students gain early exposure to leadership, negotiation, public speaking, and global collaboration skills that can prepare them for opportunities on an international stage.
Through its continued partnership with CAHSMUN, FDU Vancouver aims to encourage students to see themselves as future global leaders and demonstrate that opportunities for international engagement continue well beyond high school.
