Post-Graduate Teaching Certificate Program
Established in 2019, this 12-month certificate aims to foster and develop teaching skills in various settings, creating a foundation for the successful delivery of educational content. With customized tracks to meet the needs of all participants, this program is a balanced, hybrid learning experience.
Teaching Certificate Program Tracks
- Resident: open to current PGY1 or PGY2 participants
- Fellow: open to post-graduate pharmacy fellowship participants
- Pharmacist: open to licensed pharmacist preceptors not currently in a residency or fellowship
The program consists of 6 asynchronous seminars in conjunction with 6 live educational experiences.
Seminars will provide participants with foundational knowledge in the following areas:
- Teaching philosophy & teaching portfolio
- Student-centered teaching
- Student learning styles
- Course design (didactic and experiential)
- Writing exam questions
- Creating patient cases
- Small and large group instruction
- Preceptorship
- Conflict resolution
- Career opportunities in academia
Educational experiences may include
- Developing and delivering lecture content to current student pharmacists
- Simulation-based activities illustrating the pharmacist’s patient care process
- Precepting IPPE/APPE students
Tuition
- The enrollment is free of charge to participating institutional partners.
