Academic Profile
Dr. Carr’s scholarly work has appeared in American Quarterly and American Periodicals. With Lori Harrison-Kahan, she is the co-editor of The Case of Lizzie Borden and Other Writings, the first and only comprehensive collection of writings by Elizabeth Garver Jordan, the groundbreaking journalist, suffragist, and editor whose fearless reporting on women preceded the #MeToo movement and popularized the true-crime genre. Her journalism has appeared in publications including CNN.com, The Atlantic, Slate, Vox, and Pacific Standard. She is a former Senior Editor for Ideas at CNN Opinion and recipient of the New York Press Club Award for Online Commentary. She was an American Council of Learned Societies/Mellon Public Fellow at the think tank New America and was previously on the faculty at New York University and Manhattanville University.
