Academic Profile

Dr. Cavanaugh joined the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences as Adjunct Professor in January 2018.  Dr. Cavanaugh earned his BS degree in Chemistry from Boston College and Ph.D. in Biochemical Pharmacology from the University at Buffalo/SUNY School of Pharmacy where he characterized mammalian and viral antitemplate selectivities and immunopharmacological properties of modified RNA and DNA.  Following graduate studies, Dr. Cavanaugh joined the Department of Experimental Therapeutics at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and was awarded an American Cancer Society postdoctoral fellowship research grant to investigate the anticancer potential of polyamine derivatives.
