Academic Profile

Professor West is a full-time faculty member at FDU since 1997.

He holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the NYU Graduate Law School, and a J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School, where he served as an editor on the Vanderbilt Law Review. He is a member of the NY, NJ, and CT bars (inactive status) and is admitted to practice before the Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, he is a CPA/PFS and a CFP(r).

Professor West’s professional background includes employment with the Wall Street law firm LeBoeuf, Lamb, et al, and the accounting firm American Express Tax Services (Formerly Goldstein, Golub, et al, now McGladrey).

His tax articles appeared in the CPA Journal, The Journal of Accountancy, The Tax Adviser, Practical Tax Strategies, Taxation for Accountants, Tax Strategies, and The Tax Magazine.

Professor West serves as the Director of the CFP Board Registered Program. He was formerly department chair from 2013 to 2024.

In 2000, Prof. West was granted The Teacher of the Year Award in the Silberman College of Business.
