Two-Step Programs

This page and its child pages are intended to organize the discussion and implementation of “two-step” degree programs, of which there are several distinct permutations. Such programs involve two application (and acceptance) steps and/or two completion (and grant of credential) steps.

These programs provide unique advantages at the price of unique complexity.

They require:

  • Especially capable academic advising, to ensure that students involved understand the obligations they must meet in order to participate.
  • Farsighted planning typically years in advance, especially when cohort sizes in each year of each program may have both an upper and a lower bound.
  • Coordination of accrediting bodies across institutional boundaries.

Examples of the respective program types will be added to the definition and detail pages, with indentification of A and B agencies involved in each implementation.
