Continuing Professional Education Designed for Industry Needs

The job market is changing quickly. New technologies, including AI and digital transformation, are reshaping how people work, while employers across key sectors face growing demand for new skills. FDU Vancouver is responding with the launch of Continuing Professional Education (CPE), creating flexible pathways for learners to gain practical, career-ready knowledge and prepare for what comes next.

CPE is a suite of flexible, stackable courses and certificate programs designed around industry needs. Programs range from 6 to 12 months and are offered online and in person, giving recent graduates and working professionals options to upskill, reskill, or move into new areas of work.

Continuing Professional Education Supports Lifelong Learning

The launch expands FDU Vancouver’s commitment to career-focused education by helping bridge the gap between education and employment. It also creates another way for a not-for-profit comprehensive university to respond to workforce needs and connect learners with opportunities in British Columbia.

“Industries and their workforce needs are constantly changing, and education must evolve to ensure the right training is provided to support them,” said Dr. Ramin Shadmehr, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs at FDU Vancouver. “Through Continuing Professional Education, FDU Vancouver is creating flexible, career-focused pathways that help learners build relevant skills, access new technologies, and move forward in their careers. At the same time, we’re helping employers address skills gaps and build the talent they need for a changing economy.”

CPE’s 6 to 12-month certificate combines practical learning with applied projects in rapidly evolving areas of technology and digital entertainment. Several other specialized courses and workshops will complement CPE’s offerings in the near future.

Connecting Learning, Industry, and Community at Oakridge Park

The launch of CPE comes as FDU Vancouver begins a new campus at Oakridge Park. Designed to bring education, industry, and community closer together, the new campus creates more opportunities for learners to continue learning, develop new capabilities, and grow throughout their careers.

CPE extends that vision beyond traditional degree programs and reflects a broader commitment to making education relevant at every stage of a person’s journey. Through these new learning opportunities, FDU Vancouver is helping learners advance their careers while contributing to stronger workplaces and communities, bringing its purpose of Transforming Lives Through Education to Reality.
