Shruti Bhardwaj‘s Journey
My name is Shruti Bhardwaj, and I have completed my Master of Administrative Science at FDU Vancouver, specializing in Global Health and Human Services.
I decided to pursue a Master’s because I wanted to understand healthcare systems in a more practical global way, not just through textbooks. I chose FDU because I heard lots of great reviews and experiences from alumni. The courses at FDU helped me understand how healthcare systems work across countries.
FDU also allows me to work with industry partners on real-world proposals on strategy and risk management that helped me think more critically about how healthcare decisions are planned, evaluated, and implemented in Canada.
That combination of learning changed how I see healthcare and how to contribute to it.
Before FDU, I was someone who was limited in theoretical knowledge, often stayed quiet in conversations and always stayed reserved. So, when I moved to FDU Vancouver from India, I decided to push myself a little and started volunteering at campus events.
I also started working as a student ambassador with the marketing and communications team. The role involved a lot of communication and interaction with students, staff, and even dignitaries outside the campus, which was challenging and outside my comfort zone. But with the support and guidance of an amazing team, I went through the process, got the opportunity, and it really pushed me to become “Shruti 2.0.”
It also gave me clarity about my career direction and helped me grow professionally, not just personally. At the same time, I made some really nice friends, which made everything feel easier.
Slowly, I started becoming more confident, more open, and more myself.
At the same time, Career Services at FDU really elevates my skills in job interviews, resumes and how to present myself professionally. I feel much more prepared and confident in my future career.
In this moment, it feels like a full circle moment because the same emotions I felt when I first left my home, and my parents returned. I am feeling excited for what’s ahead, and quiet heaviness for the chapter I’m now closing.
To my FDU Vancouver community, thank you for shaping my journey, empowering my growth, and helping me become who I am today.
