Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions and Questions about New Profile Pages

What is a web profile?

A web profile refers to a webpage that exists on FDU.edu that displays various information about a single faculty member, including but not limited to their photo, contact information, biographical information, publications, classes taught, and links to their personal website. Web profiles are intended to highlight the accomplishments of FDU’s talented faculty and provide an easy way for students to contact faculty members.

What is changing about web profiles in 2026?

Prior to 2026, web profiles were manually created and maintained by FDU’s Web Operations team. In 2026, web profiles are now controlled via the information stored about users in Watermark and automatically pulled into the web profile pages on FDU.edu. Users now have the ability to update their profiles on demand by updating their information in Watermark, as well as include more information such as publications and classes taught.

Can I keep my old web profile page?

No, you will have until November 1, 2026, to add your information in Watermark, after which your old profile page will be deleted. Please make sure to copy your profile information into Watermark before then.

Can I create a profile page for someone else who works in my department, or edit/update the profile of someone else who works in my department?

No, only the individual whose name is on the profile page may edit it.

How do I move from the old profile page to the new one?

Simply log into Watermark and edit your profile. You may choose to copy/paste your biographical information from your old profile page into Watermark or write new information. When the new profiles launch in November, your profile will automatically appear under your FDU.edu directory entry. You do not need to take any further action beyond filling out the profile within Watermark.

How do I update my profile page once I have moved to the new system?

Updating your profile follows the same steps as the initial setup process. Once you make a change in Watermark and save it, your updated info will appear on your web profile automatically within 24 hours.

Who can have a profile?

What types of FDU employees are allowed to have a web profile?

Only full-time and adjunct faculty members are allowed to have a profile. Note that this differs from previous policy; prior to launching the Watermark profiles, adjunct faculty were not offered web profiles. Staff profiles are not included in the Watermark web profile system.

Can a full-time FDU staff member who also teaches part time at FDU have a profile?

Yes, if this person is an adjunct faculty member, he/she will receive access to Watermark to create a profile.

Can graduate students who teach at FDU have a profile?

No, graduate students cannot have profiles, with no exceptions.

Content on Web Profiles

Info on my profile that I don’t have access to in Watermark (such as my job title) is incorrect. How can I fix it?

Please submit a PIN to Human Resources. Once HR has processed your PIN, your directory entry will be updated on the website within 2-4 weeks. Your information will be updated on your profile as well, but we cannot provide a time estimate on how long this will take. The FDU directory and the profiles run on separate systems. If the update to your profile is urgent, please contact the Office of the Provost.

I made updates to my profile in Watermark but I’m not seeing them appear on my profile page on FDU.edu.

Watermark data is cached (saved temporarily in your computer for quicker load times). Please wait 24 hours and then reload the page. If you do not see your updated information after that, please contact Web Operations at webops@fdu.edu.

Can I list my publications on my profile?

Avoid including confidential information, sensitive personal information, offensive, discriminatory, sexually explicit, political, or otherwise controversial content, or profanity. Writing about your interests or hobbies to allow prospective students to get to know you better is acceptable.
