Accessibility by Design
Creating accessible courses benefits every student, and it’s more manageable than you might think. Accessibility by Design, developed by FDU’s Office of Educational Resources and Assessment, is a step-by-step resource that guides faculty through building and improving courses with accessibility in mind from the start.
This resource is primarily targeted to those teaching fully online classes, but most of the material is also relevant to those teaching hybrid or face-to-face. It contains practical guidance on writing clear learning outcomes, organizing your course materials online, selecting and formatting materials, and building an accessible syllabus.
Note: This resource is open to FDU faculty and staff. You may need to login using your FDU credentials.
Call for beta testers: The Office of Educational Resources and Assessment has created a series of AI-enabled agents to help faculty re-design their online classes to meet accessibility standards. If you are interested in being a beta tester, please contact Cathy Kelley for more information.
