Fall 2022 Move-In

We are excited that you are joining us in the residence halls for the 2022-2023 academic year. Here is your guide to all things move-in!

All students are required to present a valid photo ID (Driver’s License, State ID, FDU ID, or Passport) at check-in.

  • International Students – Tuesday, August 23, 2022
  • First-Year & Transfer Students – Thursday, August 25, 2022
  • All Returning Students – Sunday, August 28, 2022

Florham Campus:

Move-in will take place in the Student Center from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm on your designated day. To view your room assignment, go to the MyHousing Portal.

Medical Clearance: All First-Year & New Students, and first-time resident students, will require medical clearance from Student Health Services prior to moving in to the residence halls. Please submit all required medical documents, including your COVID-19 vaccination card, on the Medicat Patient Portal prior to your move-in day.

Financial Clearance: All students will need to obtain financial clearance, prior to moving into the residence halls, from the Office of Enrollment Services.

You are strongly advised to arrive early in the morning on your check-in day. If you require additional assistance with Financial Clearance (Enrollment Services) or Medical Clearance (Student Health Services), an early arrival will allow you the required time to be processed by Enrollment Services & Student Health prior to checking into your room. The check-in stations will close promptly at the published time. Students that arrive closer to an hour before closing time risk not being able to be assisted if they require Financial and/or Medical clearance. Please arrive early to avoid any inconveniences.

Metropolitan Campus:

Move-in will take place in the Multipurpose Room in our Student Union Building from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm on your designated day.

FDU ID Card:

New students must email a photo of themselves, with their name and student ID number, for their FDU ID card. For the Metropolitan Campus, please email dmiles@fdu.edu. For the Florham Campus, please email jmat56@fdu.edu.

The ID Card access system in the residence halls requires the use of your FDU ID Card. New Students will receive their FDU ID Card during the check-in process on their move-in day. Returning Students should bring their current FDU ID Card on their move-in day for activation after the check-in process.

First Floor Meeting:

All residents are required to attend their floor or building meetings. The first meeting is especially important as it will be the first time you meet the residents of your floor or building.

  • First-Year & Transfer Students: Thursday, August 25 at 5:00 pm

  • Returning Students: Sunday, August 28 at 7:00 pm

Location: Please check for flyers in your building advertising the location of your floor/building meeting.

Illumination Ceremony:

The ceremony, welcoming first-year and transfer students, will take place on Thursday, August 25 at 6:00 pm. The Florham Campus ceremony will take place in the Italian Gardens (rain location: Orangerie) and the Metropolitan Campus ceremony will take place at the Commencement Green (rain location: Fitness Center). All are welcome!

Early Arrivals:

We are not able to receive early arrivals so please plan accordingly. It is important that you check-in on your official move-in day during the designated times. Residents arriving before their official move-in day will need to make arrangements at a local hotel until their move-in day. Go here for information about local hotels.

Student Employees and In-Season Athletes:

Student employees, only from select departments/offices, and in-season athletes approved for an early arrival should contact their sponsoring department directly, not Housing and Residence Life, to verify if their name will be included on the early arrival list.
