Academic Profile
My full-time Lecturer position allows me to work in the two fields that I love, both teaching and pediatric nursing. I began my career as a Registered Nurse at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, in the Maternal Child Health Division. At Saint Barnabas Medical Center, I cared for patients in the Pediatric Ward, Pediatric Step-Down Unit, NICU, Newborn Nursery, and Post Partum Unit.
After obtaining my master’s degree in primary health care nursing, I practiced as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in acute care, chronic care, inpatient, and outpatient settings. My career as a Nurse Practitioner began in The Peds Care Clinic at Clara Maass Medical Center, followed by a position at The Children’s Asthma Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. I expanded my role when I entered private practice, working at Watchung Pediatrics, Preakness Pediatrics, and Advanced Pediatrics. I continue to work in a part-time capacity as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in private practice at iPediatrics.
Throughout my career as a registered nurse and pediatric nurse practitioner, I have always enjoyed the teaching aspect of healthcare. As a certified school nurse at The Morris County School of Technology and at Lake Parsippany School, I trained teachers in emergency procedures, high school students at health promotion seminars, and grade school children in health education classes. As a Nurse Practitioner, I served as a preceptor and trained nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical students. In addition, I provided educational seminars to nurses, school nurses, and parents at child preparation classes at Hackensack University Medical Center. My experience in post-secondary education includes positions as an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University and nursing instructor positions at Lincoln Technical Institute and Eastwick College prior to my present full-time position at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
