Hosting Dr. Vivien Lin at FDU Vancouver: Strengthening International Collaboration in AI and Education Research

FDU Vancouver recently welcomed Dr. Vivien Lin, Associate Professor at the Graduate Institute of Technology and Adolescent English at National Changhua University of Education (NCUE), Taiwan, for an academic visit focused on advancing international collaboration in artificial intelligence and education research.

The visit was hosted by Dr. Jeeho Ryoo from FDU Vancouver and brought together researchers and educators interested in exploring AI-supported learning environments, educational innovation, and cross-institutional research partnerships.

Dr. Lin’s research focuses on AI-supported multimodal learning environments for English language learners, including robot-assisted language learning, pedagogical AI agents in the metaverse, and content-language integrated learning approaches for children and adolescents. Her work provides important insights into how AI can be applied to enhance language learning, engagement, and personalized educational experiences. Her research areas closely align with the ongoing AI and Education initiatives at FDU Vancouver through the AI EDU Lab, where Dr. Ryoo contributes to interdisciplinary work examining how artificial intelligence can support teaching, learning, and educational design.

Reflecting on the visit, Dr. Ryoo noted, “It was a pleasure to welcome Dr. Lin to FDU Vancouver and engage in meaningful discussions on the future of AI in education. Her innovative work in AI-supported language learning strongly complements our efforts at the AI EDU Lab. This visit not only strengthened our existing research connections but also opened new possibilities for international collaboration and knowledge exchange, particularly in developing impactful, learner-centered educational technologies.”
