Students from Human Resources class in the Master of Hospitality Management Studies (MHMS) program visited the Pan Pacific Vancouver for an industry learning experience with Professor Denise Chiang. The visit gave students the opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world hospitality practices.

A Warm Welcome from an FDU Alumni

The group was welcomed by FDU Vancouver alumni Geetha Harikrishnannow a Senior Sales Manager at the hotel – Pan Pacific Vancouver. She led students on a behind-the-scenes tour, showing them different areas of the property and explaining how daily operations are managed.

Her guidance helped students better understand what it takes to deliver high-quality service and create memorable guest experiences.

Mentorship and Preparing for the Future

Students also had the chance to hear from Alaysia MacPherson, Benefit & Disability Manager at Pan Pacific Vancouver, who shared her career journey and spoke about growth in the hospitality industry.

During the session, she offered honest advice and practical tips on career development. Students were highly engaged and appreciated the opportunity to learn from her experience.

One of the most meaningful parts of the visit was the connection between students and industry professionals. Not only their knowledge, but also their personal experiences, offering valuable guidance and real-world perspective.

This kind of mentorship helps our students build confidence and better prepare for their future careers. Experiences like this also reflect the MHMS program’s strong focus on practical learning and industry engagement, giving students insights that support both their academic journey and professional growth.

Thank You to Our Industry Partners

FDU Vancouver would like to thank Geetha Harikrishnan and Alaysia MacPherson for their time, support, and inspiration. Their contributions made this visit a memorable experience for our students.
