Facilities Department

Our Mission

The mission of the Facilities Department is to maintain and manage while striving to improve an optimum physical environment at Fairleigh Dickinson University which supports the University’s Mission and Strategic Plan. We are committed to supporting the community and real estate by maintaining buildings, grounds, utilities and custodial services that are functional, attractive, efficient and compliant with regulatory standards.

Our team provides 24-hour service to our students, faculty, staff and visitors, and we take pride in being responsive, professional, and customer-focused. We are here to serve you.

While we work collaboratively with and support the capital project team as well as directly manage small and intermediate capital projects, major capital improvements are prioritized, planned and implemented by Facilities Planning.

Reporting a Facilities Service Request

To request assistance or report a facilities issue, please use the Aramark FDU Metro Service Request Form and complete the required information. You will receive a Service Request Number when your request is submitted. All requests are reviewed throughout the day, Monday through Friday during normal working hours.

If the request is accepted, an automated email will provide the assigned Work Order Number. All accepted requests begin with a Routine priority and may be adjusted to Urgent or Emergency by the Facilities team based on the situation. As the facilities team makes updates to your work order, the system will send an email to you as the status changes.

If the request is declined, an explanation for the reason will be provided.

Please use the Service Request Form for any issue or concern related to:

  • Building systems such as heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, or lighting.
  • Custodial services, including cleaning, restrooms, and overall facility appearance.
  • Grounds and exterior areas, including lighting, lawn care, snow or ice concerns, or exterior conditions.
  • Carpentry or repairs to doors, walls, or fixtures.
  • Pest control, including reports of insects, rodents, or stinging insects.

The facilities team will evaluate each request and respond appropriately based on the nature and urgency of the issue.

Important: While urgent/emergency issues should still be submitted through the Service Request Form for Facilities tracking purposes, please do not rely on the form as your only method of reporting the issue.

For all urgent situations: You must also call Public Safety or Facilities Services directly to ensure immediate responses, then complete the Service Request Form afterward for documentation purposes.

For all emergencies: Please call Public Safety immediately, then complete the Service Request Form after the fact for documentation purposes.

Please note: This form should not be used for event setup requests.
