1962
Carole Fleet McRonald, AA (Metro), and Ross McRonald, BS (Metro), celebrated 63 years of marriage in May. They wed at the Florham Campus just a week before Commencement. Fleet McRonald earned a paralegal degree and was chairwoman of the Monmouth Cancer Ball for two years. McRonald earned his medical degree at the University of Buffalo, State University of New York. He did five years in the U.S. Navy as a submariner and went on to earn the rank of lieutenant commander. He was director of sports medicine at Rutgers University. The McRonalds live in Boynton Beach, Fla.
1963
Marty Desatnik, BA (Metro), worked in education for most of his career. He taught in New York City before becoming a principal in Newark, N.J., where he was nominated as a top administrator. He considers FDU founder Peter Sammartino as his greatest influence, someone who challenged him to grow academically and socially and inspired his commitment to education. Desatnik later was an adjunct faculty member at FDU, teaching college math and graduate education. He also founded College Days, a guidance and SAT-preparation program that helped more than 150 students find their path to higher education. He writes that he is a proud graduate of the finest university in New Jersey. As a student at FDU, Desatnik served in student government and led Informal I, a club that fostered friendship, creativity and campus pride.

Arlene Judis Jamison, BA (Metro), and James Nickelsporn, BA’69 (Metro), reminisced about being on the FDU Student Council and presenting a table tennis exhibition by world champion Marty Reisman in the packed Commons. Fast forward 60 years and “Marty Supreme,” based on Reisman’s life and starring Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow, has hit movie theaters everywhere. Judis Jamison writes that “she and Jimmy feel like true visionaries.”

Barry Wiener, BA (Ruth), practices law in Atlanta, Ga., where he has lived since 1970.
1969
Robert Saal, BA (Ruth), worked with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for more than 50 years after serving as a missile officer in the U.S. Air Force in Grand Forks, North Dak., and two years as a reporter with The Paterson News. At the IRS, Saal worked for 13 years as a field agent. He attended night school at Seton Hall Law School and worked for 37 years as a senior attorney at the Small Business/Self-employed Office of the IRS in Newark, N.J. Prior to Saal’s 2024 retirement, he received the Albert Gallatin Award from the U.S. Department of the Treasury for “the fine contribution he has made to the public service.”

1970
Ron Merolli, BA (Metro), was thrilled to find his name in the school newspaper, TARREVIR, where he worked throughout his four years in college. He writes that he loved his time at FDU and is very happy for the recent successes of the Knights men’s and women’s basketball teams. After graduation, Merolli went into the army; to Washington, D.C., to attend Catholic University Law School; to work for the government; and then to private industry. He has since retired from full-time work but is an adjunct faculty member at Norwich University in Northfield, Vt., where he lives. Merolli teaches courses in financial literacy, taxation and business law and professional practice.

Preston “Paul” Alexander, BA (Metro), has retired after 40 years as human resource executive at Citibank, Pitney Bowes, Columbia University and Seagram. He writes that he has settled in Cohasset, Mass., and is spoiling his grandchildren and playing golf.
1976
John Fitzgerald, BS (Flor), is the author of Operation Deathblow, a geopolitical thriller. The novel, published by Post Hill Press in November 2024, follows a U.S. president and elite military operators as they confront a web of threats emanating from foreign adversaries. He is currently collaborating on research with Richard Kerr, former deputy director of the CIA, on a third novel focusing on the Russia-Ukraine war. His first novel, Operation Hawk’s Nest, was published by BookBaby in 2021. Fitzgerald used to run a production company, Fitzgerald Brunetti Productions, in Manhattan, N.Y.
The late Silvio LaTassa, MA (Ruth), was named the William Floyd Alumni Association Outstanding Educator for the Class of 2025. He began his career at the William Floyd School District in 1962 as a foreign language teacher and later became head of the department. He was passionate about Latin and was known for bringing Roman traditions into his classroom. In 1965, LaTassa helped establish the William Floyd Teachers Union and became its first president. He also introduced soccer to the school, creating its first boys’ soccer team in 1974. He served as head coach — leading the teams to multiple championships — until his retirement in 1988. LaTassa received the “Suffolk County Coach of the Year” honor several times.

Kenneth Lavery, BS (Ruth), celebrated his 70th birthday in August 2025. He writes that he is enjoying his retirement after 34 years of helping people recover from alcohol and drug misuse.

Karen Brundage-Johnson, BA (Ruth), has received the 2025 President’s Distinguished Alumni Award from Atlantic Cape Community College, Hamilton, N.J. She was chosen based on her professional, academic and community-based accomplishments and supporting Atlantic Cape, its mission and its students.

Gil Cohen, BS (Ruth), has been executive vice president of Omaha Magazine for the past 15 years after having spent 25 years in the hotel industry. He previously was director of sales and marketing for the Omaha Symphony and ran a Missouri River Tour Boat operation. At Omaha Magazine, Cohen leads the sales effort, finding and securing new publishing opportunities. He writes that he has brought nine new projects to the company, Omaha Publications, which produces printed magazines/annuals and digital publications. He is also his company’s Facebook social correspondent. In 2024, the “Omaha Magazine Podcast” launched, which Cohen hosts. Watch the podcast on YouTube or the company’s website. He is also involved in civic organizations including the Offutt Air Force Base Advisory Council and Board of Directors, Omaha Press Club and American Advertising Federation of Nebraska. Marta Tellado, BA (Flor), was appointed senior trustee of the Yale Corporation (Yale University Board of Trustees) effective July 1, 2025. She is the former president and chief executive officer of Consumer Reports and an FDU trustee from 2013 to 2022.

John Baylouny, BSEE (Metro), was appointed president and CEO of Leonardo DRS, Arlington, Va., and has joined its board of directors effective January 1, 2026. He has been with the company for 35 years, most recently as chief operating officer — a position he has held since 2018.
John Harmon, Sr., BS (Ruth), was awarded an honorary doctor of humane letters degree and delivered the Commencement address at William Paterson University’s Commencement ceremony in May 2025. He was recognized for his achievements as a public servant and for spearheading initiatives focused on African American residents and businesses in New Jersey and his leadership. Harmon is founder, president and CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey.

Richard Wiggins, MSEE (Metro), was in Marquis Who’s Who for his expertise in the aerospace, defense and intelligence community industries. He served 21 years in the U.S. Army as a communications electronics officer and retired as a lieutenant colonel. Wiggins then went into the private sector and worked for 38 years with defense contractors such as Loral Corporation, Hazeltine Corporation (later acquired by BAE Systems) and Northrop Grumman.
1988
James Hunter, MBA (Flor), was appointed to the board of directors of Tonix Pharmaceuticals Holding Corp., Chatham, N.J., in June. He most recently served as executive vice president, commercial operations, at Tonix Pharmaceuticals, and was president of Tonix Medicines from June 2023 to December 2024.
Alan Locher, AA’86, BA (Metro), was the keynote speaker at the Soap Operas in Popular Culture Conference held at the Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, from October 31 to November 1, 2025. A long-time publicist for “As the World Turns” and “Guiding Light,” he is director of operations for Fotostori, a photo-organizing company. Locher has spent three decades working in marketing and communications in the film, television and tourism industries. He also created “The Locher Room,” a virtual talk show on YouTube featuring celebrity guests from daytime, primetime and film.

Barry Cohen, BA (Ruth), was promoted to deputy chief of the Union (N.J.) Police Department. He was first appointed to the department in 1999. Cohen was promoted to sergeant in 2010, to lieutenant in 2015 and to captain in 2020. Both his parents also served in law enforcement.
Joseph DePinto, BS (Ruth), MBA’97 (Metro), head of cells, genes and advanced therapies at McKesson Corporation, was appointed to the board of directors of TAXIS Pharmaceuticals. He has spent the past 30 years focused on bringing life-saving specialty drugs to the market and helping patients with complex diseases access advanced care.
Joseph Martin, BS (Flor), a real estate investor and licensed professional, was recognized as a 2025 Top Agent by BestAgents.us. He has more than 20 years of experience in managing properties in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Florida.

Alumnus Chad Schoonveld, BAIS’08, MS’21 (Metro), will represent the United States in the 2028 IKA/Culinary Olympics, the oldest and one of the largest international culinary arts competitions. The team trains on select weekends, flying to cities throughout the country to perfect skills and practice exacting standards and physical and mental endurance. “The Olympics will be a challenge, but I believe that a summation of all of my education helps me to have a diversified understanding of cultures and foods,” Schoonveld says
Patently Important Work
Paul Manz, MPA’94 (Ruth), a member of the FDU Alumni Association Board of Governors and a retired U.S. Army employee now at the U.S. Army DEVCOM Armaments Center — and his team of developers — were recognized by the Research and Development Council of New Jersey at its 46th Annual Edison Patent Awards. The patent covered a groundbreaking invention that monitors the location and tracks fast-moving UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles, such as drones) posing potential threats to critical infrastructure and public safety.

Sharon McCormick Lubrano, BS, MBA’96 (Flor), was named chief marketing officer of Gordian, Greenville, S.C., a leading provider of data-driven solutions across all phases of the building lifecycle. She oversees the company’s brand strategy, integrated campaigns, marketing operations and go-to-market execution. Lubrano previously served as CMO at Litmos.

She’s president of Strategic HR Partners LLC (since 2022) and trains human resource professionals in behavioral interviewing, onboarding processes and performance reviews. Maura Tuite, BA, MA’97 (Metro), was appointed by the Livingston Board of Education as assistant superintendent for special education and student personnel services effective December 1, 2025. Previously, she was Livingston Public Schools’ director of secondary special education.

Deborah Baker, BS, MBA’06 (Flor), is the chair of the Equipment Leasing & Finance Association’s board of directors. She is vice president, head of global payment solutions at HP Inc.
Derek Hodkey, MBA (Flor), has been appointed president and CEO of Alternatives, Inc., Raritan, N.J., which provides comprehensive services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, those with mental health diagnoses, as well as individuals and families experiencing homelessness, to enable them to reach their highest level of independence and integration in the community. He was previously president and CEO of Orbis International, a nonprofit focused on preventing and treating avoidable blindness. Hodkey is a co-author of three scientific publications and holds a patent for an active immunosuppressant.

D. Anthony Scaglione, MBA (Metro), has been named chief financial officer (CFO) of Flowers Foods, Inc., one of the largest producers of packaged bakery foods in the United States, effective January 1, 2026. He previously served as CFO for several public and private organizations such as Total Wine & More, ODP Corporation and ABM Industries.
Tom Walsh, BA (Metro), sends his congratulations to two fellow alumni on their recent accomplishments. Howard Page III, BA’01 (Flor) was promoted to director of supplier operations for construction and equipment at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support Philadelphia. Walsh writes, “Howard started his career at DLA as a corporate intern and worked his way up to become the youngest-serving director in construction and equipment.” Shawn Lennon, BS’01 (Flor), was promoted to assistant deputy chief financial officer in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense Comptroller. Walsh worked with Lennon when the latter served at the DLA as deputy chief financial officer and director, financial improvement and remediation. Both Walsh and Lennon went to Wroxton College.

Melissa Randall, MA (Flor), joined Obra Capital, Inc. as chief human resources officer and senior managing director. She was previously global chief human resources officer at Waterfall Asset Management.
Kristen Richter, MBA (Flor), was appointed chief commercial officer at Peregrine Hospitality, a full-service hospitality company managing resorts and hotels. She was previously chief commercial officer for the Fairmont and Raffles brands of Accor.
Christopher Tash, MAS (Metro), chief of the Princeton (N.J.) Police Department, retired in September 2025 after a 28-year career in law enforcement. He joined the New Jersey office of the Attorney General in 1997 and moved to the Princeton Police Department in 2000. Tash was named chief in 2024. His leadership earned him recognition as an accredited chief executive by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.
Gina Walker, BS, MPA’08 (Metro), was in Marquis Who’s Who for excellence in finance. A payroll manager at Howden, she has nearly two decades of expertise in payroll management, compliance and administration. Prior to joining Howden, she was with EY as a United States tax payroll manager.

Kathryn (Kate) Gomes (formerly known as Kathryn Elders), BA, MAT’10 (Flor), self-published the book Grim’s Gag Reel: Absurdly True Tales of History’s Final Moments, a compilation of short stories that explore bizarre and often overlooked deaths throughout history — blending dark humor with historical insights — in October 2025. She is also the author of the children’s books Cosmo’s Space Adventure, Cosmo’s Deep Sea Adventure and Math Hurts My Head. Gomes writes that she credits FDU in her book’s acknowledgment page.
Amitkumar Patel, MS (Metro), is a principal scientist at Amneal Pharmaceuticals in Piscataway, N.J. Since joining the company more than 16 years ago, he has delivered more than 25 Abbreviated New Drug Applications to market. These approvals span critical health conditions, including urinary tract infections, epilepsy, osteoarthritis pain, various infections, opioid-overdose emergencies and allergic reactions.
Judith Kutzleb, DNP (Metro), a nurse practitioner specializing in family medicine, is part of Holy Name Primary Care and Specialty Associates in Teaneck, N.J. She has been recognized as one of the Top Docs in Nursing for 2025 by New Jersey Magazine.

John Hayes, BA, MAS’12 (Metro), was appointed police director of the Asbury Park (N.J.) Police Department after serving as interim deputy city manager and acting city manager. He has three decades of law-enforcement experience and retired from the New Jersey State Police — with the rank of captain — in 2024.
Shari Keller Levine, PhD (Metro), is a clinical psychologist who blends psychology and spirituality. Her work combines Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with Viktor Frankl’s logotherapy. She also draws on values-based insights from Jewish spiritual tradition.

Theresa Dill, BA (Flor), and William Trent Fettes, BA’24 (Metro), were married on October 17, 2025, at the Church of Christ the King in New Vernon, N.J., with a reception at Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park, N.J. They took wedding photos at the Florham Campus. A Marine veteran, Fettes works in law enforcement in Berkeley Heights, N.J. He started his degree at FDU in 2009, taking classes part-time. Dill previously worked in hospitality — notably as the special events manager at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York — before attending Seton Hall Law School in Newark, N.J. Since graduating in 2018, she has clerked for Hon. Thomas Moore, Essex County, N.J., and was an associate attorney at McCarter & English in Newark. Dill is a corporate lawyer at Syndax Pharmaceuticals in New York.
Pamela Harris, MFA (Flor), is the author of Through Our Teeth, a novel about teens investigating a murder while hiding their history with the dead girl, published by Quill Tree Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Children’s Books. A former school counselor, she also wrote When You Look Like Us and This Town Is On Fire, both published by Quill Tree Books.
Walt Miller, MAS (Metro), is the Evesham (N.J.) township manager. He started with Evesham Township Police Department as a patrol officer in 1997 and rose to become chief of police in 2022.

Matthew Solovay, MAS (Metro), was appointed chief of the Princeton (N.J.) Police Department effective October 1, 2025. He has been with the department since 2005. Solovay previously served as corporal, lieutenant and head of the Operations Division and the Investigation Division. He was promoted to captain in 2024.
Andrew Winters, MS (Metro), is a sergeant at the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, where he supervises his agency’s Intelligence, Counterterrorism and Bias Units. He has 22 years of law-enforcement experience, with 18 years in special victims, homicide, crime-scene investigation and forensic ballistics.

Britni Jaskot, MSM (Metro), is the head women’s volleyball coach at New Jersey City University, Jersey City, N.J. She was previously an assistant coach at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Mo. In 2022, Jaskot was on the FDU staff, helping guide the Knights to their first NCAA Division I Tournament and Northeast Conference championship title.
Janae Seldura, BA, MA’24 (Flor), works at the Intrepid Museum in New York City, where she oversees graphics in the exhibits department, makes 3D animations and creates exhibit signage. She helped rebrand the museum’s hangar deck floor after the U.S. Navy loaned them a vintage warplane. Seldura is designing and ordering graphic panels for an outdoor exhibit on the Concorde plane that will be unveiled in spring 2026.

Danny Carrasco, BA (Metro), joined the New Jersey Department of Corrections staff at the Northern State Prison in Newark, N.J., in August 2025.
Rachel McHale, BA (Flor), was named head field hockey coach at Ramapo College of New Jersey, Mahwah — the program’s first full-time head coach. She is also the head coach of the Falcon Field Hockey Club and guided her teams at National Showcase Tournaments, including Shooting Star and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Winter Escape.
2025
Marissa Chavez, MPA/MPH (Metro), joined Utah Valley University’s softball team as assistant coach. She was previously an assistant coach at Utah Tech University in St. George and an FDU Division III teams’ graduate assistant.
Abigail Conklin, BA, MSM (Metro), joined Iona University’s women’s basketball staff as its video coordinator. She previously played for the Knights women’s basketball team with a record of 126 games played — chalking up 691 points, 300 rebounds and 211 assists. Conklin was also named the NEC Most Improved Player.
Javier Toro, MPA (Metro), a commander of the Special Victims Unit of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, completed his program at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. The program included training in advanced communication, leadership and physical fitness.

Former Trustee and Benefactor Passes
Arthur Sukel, MBA’67 (Ruth), died on December 28, 2025, at the age of 88. A former member of the FDU Board of Trustees (2015–2021), Sukel served as senior vice president, finance and CFO for Diamandis Communications, Inc. He received FDU’s Pinnacle award in 2017 — one of the highest honors bestowed on alumni. An Army veteran, Sukel attended Bryant University, where he first met his future wife, Carole (Oliner) Sukel, graduating in 1960. In 1965, he started working as an investment analyst with CBS. Earning his MBA from FDU enabled him to rise within CBS to director of budgets, director of mergers & acquisitions, vice president of finance, and ultimately the CFO of CBS Magazines. In 1985, he was one of four executives who purchased CBS Publishing, forming Diamandis Communications, Inc. In 1990, Diamandis Communications, Inc. sold to Hachette Publications and Sukel retired. Arthur and Carole established endowment scholarships and educational gifts to both Bryant University and FDU. Sukel is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carole; sons Steven and Daniel; daughter Teresa; daughters-in-law Marla Sukel, and Kim Parliman-Sukel; grandsons Justin Sukel, Joshua Sukel and Zachary Sukel; sisters Patricia Preate, Judy Davis and Marilyn Coyle, and eight nieces and nephews. In his memory, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
